What's the story?

There are rumours going around that the WWE is deliberately stacking it's Monday Night RAW and SmackDown LIVE men's Survivor Series teams with as many babyfaces as possible, according to a report from Cageside Seats.

In case you didn't know...

Kurt Angle announced the first addition to his team after being made the Monday Night Raw captain by Stephanie McMahon, and it's 'The Monster' Among Men' Braun Strowman. It's been speculated that Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe will join him.

Meanwhile, Shane McMahon's team is almost full, with Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode all being added, and McMahon announcing himself as captain. The last spot will be filled either by AJ Styles or Rusev.

The heart of the matter

Cageside Seats released speculation as part of their 'Rumour Roundup' that the WWE was deliberately placing as many crowd favourites and babyfaces in the 5-vs-5 men's Survivor Series match as possible.

The idea with the two Survivor Series teams from Raw and SmackDown, on the men's side at least, is to have as many babyfaces as possible on both teams.

Looking at the current teams it certainly seems to be the case, with all of SmackDown LIVE's teams being a babyface, and all of Monday Night RAW's team being babyface following the recent turn of Braun Strowman.

What's next?

With this in mind, it seems likely that AJ Styles will defeat Rusev on next week's SmackDown LIVE and become the final member of Shane McMahon's team. The only anomaly is the rumoured inclusion of Samoa Joe, but the WWE seems to be waiting for Roman Reigns to be cleared before they pull the trigger on their final RAW team.

Author's take

It's unclear why the WWE would deliberately do something like this. But, I guess if they stack the match with wrestlers that everyone likes it makes it feel like a bigger deal. It also makes it harder to decide who you want to win which might be something else the WWE is going for.
