From the WWE/UFC Rumor Mill: Dana White hints at Brock Lesnar UFC return
What's the story?
Brock Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion and tonight's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view will see his WrestleMania opponent revealed, but there's been a lot of talk recently about The Beast Incarnate making a return to UFC, with Paul Heyman being quoted this week as apparently hinting at a return, something the Advocate has since denied.
However, Dana White has added fuel to the fire with a simple post on social media.
In case you didn't know...
Brock Lesnar is set to return to WWE tomorrow night with an appearance on RAW, but it isn't known how long Lesnar plans on staying with WWE or when his contract runs out - with many believing it to not go much further than WrestleMania.
Brock Lesnar is currently serving a suspension, too, which means he would be unable to return to the Octagon for at least another seven months.
The heart of the matter
Well, Dana White took to Twitter to post a photo of himself and Brock Lesnar, with Lesnar even sporting a UFC shirt.
The photo may well be an old photo, but the timing of the post was very opportune. White posted the photo just minutes into WWE's Elimination Chamber event - and one with a UFC flavour to it as it's happening in Las Vegas and Ronda Rousey will be signing her WWE contract, not to mention several UFC stars are in the crowd tonight.
What's next?
In terms of Brock returning to UFC, who knows? It's no secret that The Beast is incredibly passionate about UFC and would most likely favour a return to UFC if the chance arose.
However, the road to WrestleMania is underway and Lesnar will most likely have his busiest schedule of WWE programming of the year starting tomorrow night.
Brock Lesnar's WWE contract does not stop him from competing in UFC, though, and even a contract extension, if it were to be agreed, would probably mean both parties would settle on similar terms.
If Lesnar were to return to UFC, the earliest possible date would be September.
Author's take
Could Dana White be trolling? Is he just showing some marketing genius? Well, if so, it's worked. He has the WWE and UFC worlds talking about a potential return of Brock.
No matter what Brock does, it's big news - and with Rousey going in the opposite direction, this could further enhance the once unlikely relationship between UFC and WWE.
