Further details on the World Heavyweight Championship tournament ahead of WWE RAW - Reports

This past week, Triple H announced the various WWE stars who will participate in an upcoming tournament to crown a brand new World Heavyweight Champion.

The tournament will see two triple-threat matches taking place on RAW tonight and two others again on SmackDown, with the four winners then facing off in two one-on-one matches. This will lead to one star from RAW and a SmackDown performer battling for the new title at Night of Champions on May 27.

According to a recent report from Fightful Select, the company is planning on having the two triple-threat matches being a major part of RAW tonight.

"We're told that the World Heavyweight Title tournament was scheduled to take up a 'significant' portion of WWE Raw as things stood on Sunday. They plan on having the title belt ringside presented as it has appeared on TV in recent weeks. Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz, Finn Balor and Damian Priest are planned for Monday's tournament." (H/T Fightful Select)

With a new world title up for grabs, an opportunity also presents itself, with more stars now hoping that championship glory is in their future.

During a recent interview with Catch Club, former United States Champion Baron Corbin, expressed his admiration and desire for the new belt.

"I want a shot at this new title. One of my favorite titles in WWE history is that Heavyweight Championship with the big thing. And I always remember like Batista wearing it, Edge having it, and it was always so cool to me. So, to get one that kinda signifies that would be amazing," he said. [10:22 - 10:35] (H/T Sportskeeda)
