GFW News: Bobby Lashley will not be provided unconditional release from GFW
What’s the story?
GFW and Bobby Lashley continued their ongoing storyline of the former champion looking to quit the promotion and concentrate on his MMA career, something that GFW is not looking to take lightly.
In case you didn’t know…
In the last episode of Impact Wrestling, Jim Cornette was desperately trying his best to keep hold of the 41-year-old but Lashley was having none of it and stated that he was just there to say his goodbyes to the others.
There was a major scuffle at the end of the episode as Lashley’s American Top Team and Moose went head to head with Moose ending up getting a beatdown with Lashley and his team standing tall.
The heart of the matter
After Thursday’s taping of Impact Wrestling, the following statement was put up on the Impact website.
IMPACTWrestling.Com received the following message from Jim Cornette, “due to the heinous actions of Lashley and American Top Team on IMPACT Thursday night, we have made the decision not to give Bobby his unconditional release from his valid contract. Lashley will be at our disposal when required. That is all.”
Lashley then took to Twitter to respond to the statement and it seemed that his American Top Team didn’t actually understand what Cornette and his team had posted earlier.
Tweet speak
Here is the rather bizarre exchange of tweets.
What’s next?
There could be a major brawl on the way between Moose and Lashley considering the actions from the last episode. Additionally, this does give GFW a storyline to push with Lashley and it would be a great fight between the two men to just see who is the better wrestler at GFW.
Author’s take
This could be a great move by GFW as letting go of Lashley without actually bringing out any problems the two parties might have. We all know that the promotion isn’t doing the best and has seen a number of their stars leave earlier in the year due to contractual issues.
Lashley, for his part, had spoken about facing Brock Lesnar in an MMA fight and his decision to leave GFW could see this dream match come to fruition in the near future.
