From the WWE Rumor Mill: WWE has reportedly spoken to Goldberg to appear at Raw's 25th Anniversary
What's the story?
Will McCormick of Inquisitr has reported that WWE has contacted Golberg to make an appearance at the 25th anniversary of Raw, which is emanating from the Barclays center in New York.
In case you didn't know...
WWE is celebrating 25 years of their flagship show Monday Night Raw on 22 January 2018 at the Barclays center in New York. It is being reported that a multitude of legends including The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair will be featured on the show. It makes sense that WWE wants to bring back as many veterans and stars as they can for the celebrations. Adding Goldberg to the lineup would certainly help draw attention to the special episode.
The Heart of the Matter
Goldberg made his highly anticipated return to WWE in October 2016, to answer Brock Lesnar's challenge for a match at Survivor Series 2016. At the event, Goldberg shocked the world when he defeated Lesnar at Survivor Series in just over 1 minute, in what was his significant wrestling match in nearly 12 years. In the following months, Goldberg went on to win the Universal Championship from Kevin Owens. He defended the Championship in a rematch with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, from which Lesnar emerged victorius. Though Goldberg would announce he was leaving the WWE, he left the door open for a future return.
What's next?
Based on the report, it looks like a strong possibility that Goldberg will make his return to the WWE at the 25th anniversary special. McCormick also quoted that this might ultimately lead to a potential match with Batista at WrestleMania 34. Regardless of whether or not seeds are planted for a potential feud, with Batista or otherwise, the show will gain more star power if Goldberg is added to the mix.
Author's Take
I am personally pretty hyped for the possibility of Goldberg returning to WWE, and possibly having a match with Batista at WrestleMania 34. Seeing those two face off would be a very interesting match, to say the least. It is worth noting that McCormick also quoted that both superstars are in talks with the WWE. It is likely that we will know the staus of their returns by the time the Royal Rumble rolls around.
As for his speculated appearance at the anniversary of Raw episode, I think Goldberg would be a excellent addition to what is already a star studded show. I believe the fans will love to see Goldberg once again on WWE television. If you would ask me, I can already hear the crowd in the Barclays Center erupt in Goldberg chants when his ring music hi
