Gunther and 4 other first-time ever opponents for Dolph Ziggler in WWE
Dolph Ziggler has had quite the career in WWE. The former world champion began as an amateur wrestler before turning pro in 2004. He went through a number of gimmicks early in his career, including that of a caddy and male cheerleader.
The talented Show Off overcame all obstacles in his path in a long and successful run with World Wrestling Entertainment. He's held 15 championships in the company, including two world titles. Ziggler even held the NXT Championship earlier this year.
The Show Off's tenure in the company meant that he battled veteran superstars the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Ric Flair but also up-and-coming stars such as Bron Breakker. Despite wrestling an array of opponents across generations, there are several intriguing big-name stars in the company he's yet to battle on television.

Below are Gunther and 4 other first-time ever opponents for Dolph Ziggler in WWE.
#5. Braun Strowman and Dolph Ziggler haven't had a singles match in WWE
Braun Strowman is an absolute monster. He had his first match in 2014 and quickly joined the main roster as part of The Wyatt Family in 2015. His time with WWE has been successful, as he's held the Intercontinental Championship, RAW Tag Team Titles, and even the Universal Championship.
The Monster Among Men had a brief setback when he was released from WWE in 2021 due to budget cuts. After competing for a short time on the independent circuit, Braun returned to WWE in September.
Unlike most entries on this list, Ziggler and Strowman are no strangers to being on television together. The popular stars have united and battled each other for years. Shockingly, all of their televised bouts have been multi-man. Most of their matches have been tag team bouts and battle royals.
While their size difference would make for an intriguing match, there's little doubt that Strowman would toss Ziggler around like a ragdoll. Still, if anybody can pull off an upset against The Monster of all Monsters, it might be The Show Off.
#4. Santos Escobar recently joined the main roster
Santos Escobar found great success in wrestling long before joining WWE. He made his pro debut in 2000 and throughout his career competed for AAA, CMLL, IMPACT Wrestling, and Lucha Underground.
The confident luchador signed with WWE in 2019. While he dealt with an early setback due to injury, Escobar quickly found success once he was able to compete. He won the Cruiserweight Championship and formed the popular Legado del Fantasma stable.
Ziggler has never battled Santos Escobar, but a bout between the two veterans could be extremely entertaining. Escobar isn't the biggest superstar in terms of stature, so he and Dolph would be a fairly even match. Regardless of which superstar wins their eventual bout, the fans will truly be the winners. Ziggler just needs to keep an eye out for Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro, and Zelina Vega.
#3. The Show Off could challenge Gunther
Gunther is one of the most dominant superstars in wrestling. He began his career in 2005 and found great success on the European independent wrestling scene. He began traveling to the United States where he found further success.
The Ring General signed with WWE in 2019. He quickly rose to prominence on NXT UK, where he held the United Kingdom Championship for longer than anybody else in the brand's history. He's currently the Intercontinental Champion on Friday Night SmackDown.
Dolph Ziggler has seemingly never shared a ring with the intense Austrian. While Gunther would likely make mincemeat of Ziggler's chest, the former Intercontinental Champion has battled larger opponents for years. The two wrestling over the Intercontinental Title has potential to steal the show.
#2. Dolph Ziggler has never wrestled Karrion Kross on television
Karrion Kross began his professional wrestling career in 2014. He quickly found success by working with promotions such as Global Force Wrestling, Lucha Underground, and IMPACT Wrestling. He even had a great run with AAA.
He signed with WWE in 2020 and rose through the ranks of NXT immediately. He captured the NXT Championship and had a dominant title reign. Unfortunately, Kross' call-up to the main roster didn't go smoothly and he was quickly released. Karrion returned to the company following the major regime change resulting in Triple H's rise to power.
The Show Off has only shared the ring with Karrion Kross once – when they faced off in a dark match. Given how talented Ziggler is and his high-quality bumping, Kross would look like a true star if the two had a match together. While Ziggler would surely be on the losing end of their match, a hard-fought bout between the two would make both stars look good.
#1. Johnny Gargano and Dolph Ziggler have never clashed
Johnny Gargano is a veteran of the squared circle. He's been wrestling for 17 years as the talented star made his pro debut all the way back in 2005. The Whole Shebang found success on the independent scene in the United States, Canada, Japan, and Europe.
After joining WWE in 2016, Johnny was a pillar of the NXT brand. He held the show's main title, tag team gold, and the North American Champion, making him the first ever NXT Triple Crown Champion. Johnny is currently competing on Monday Night RAW.
Dolph Ziggler and Johnny Gargano have only been in one match together. Both stars competed in the 2019 Royal Rumble, which was won by Seth Rollins. Given both talented superstars are on Monday Night RAW, they could have a first-time ever singles match in any given week. Both wrestlers are supremely talented, so the match will likely be fantastic.
