Gunther is a Professional wrestler born in Vienna, Austria. Formerly known as Walter, he is widely considered to be one of the most dominant wrestlers of the modern era. He is the leader of the group Imperium. A huge professional wrestling fan since a very young age, Gunther began his career at the age of 18 on the Austrian independent circuit under the name Big Van Walter.

The next year, in 2006, he made his debut in Japan. Over the next few years, he went on to wrestle for numerous promotions across Japan, the USA, and Europe. In 2019, he was signed by WWE and drafted to NXT UK, where many considered Walter to be the face of the brand. He won the NXT UK Championship there and established himself as a dominating wrestler within WWE. He made his main roster debut in 2022 and was then renamed Gunther.

Gunther Achievements

Gunther won WWE's King of the Ring in 2024. Wrestling Observer Newsletter named him Europe's MVP (2018-2020). He won the 16 Carat Gold Tournament (2010), wXw World Tag Team Festival/League (2015, 2017), and Ambition 11 Tournament (2019) in Westside Xtreme Wrestling. ESPN named him the Men's Wrestler of the Year in 2023 and 2024. Pro Wrestling Illustrated placed him in the fourth spot in the PWI 500 list in 2023.
