Gunther’s move over to WWE RAW could allow him to finally reignite deeply personal feud

Gunther is recognized by the WWE Universe worldwide today as an unstoppable freak of nature. The Ring General has been undefeated since his main roster debut in April 2022.

To refresh the memory of some fans, and for those unaware, Gunther holds another record in WWE. The Austrian megastar had a lengthy reign as NXT United Kingdom Champion between April 2019 to August 2021.

Then known as Walter, The Ring General ran roughshod on the roster until he stepped into the ring with Ilja Dragunov at TakeOver 36. The latter ended Gunther's reign at 870 days.

Last time, their encounter was an instant classic.
This time, these two competitors meet on the sacred #NXTTakeOver stage.

This match was ranked even above Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 and CM Punk vs. John Cena at Money in the Bank 2011 by Cagematch. Ilja Dragunov's reign lasted for 347 days.

It remains unclear who will team up alongside Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn tonight as the Undisputed Tag Team Champions will face Imperium in a six-man tag match. If Ilja Dragunov is revealed to be the mystery partner, the NXT Superstar could be looking to reignite his rivalry with The Ring General.

Perhaps there may be a twist in the story on WWE RAW?

A few days back, there was a report about WWE looking to add the current NXT Superstar to the Imperium on the main roster. While the news already broke on the internet many weeks ago, the 29-year-old Russian superstar could be called up sooner rather than later.

Fans believe that the RAW faction will "become unstoppable" with Ilja's addition. However, this would mean that their potential rivalry on the main roster is shelved, as it is something that happened in the past.

The company still has in its pocket a potential feud for Gunther down the line. Ilja Dragunov is often brought up by fans as a candidate to end The Ring General's successful reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Although, the 35-year-old Austrian has asserted that he will be champion come WrestleMania 40, surpassing Honky Tonk Man's record as the longest reigning IC champ of all time.

Last week, Gunther and Co. seemingly made a deal with Paul Heyman, doing the dirty work on RAW against The Prizefighter and The Liberator. What is the Imperium planning for tonight's episode of WWE RAW? The show is also the go-home edition for Night of Champions, where Gunther will defend his title against Mustafa Ali.
