What's the story?
Davey Boy Smith Jr and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts had an altercation early in April at the WrestleCon 2018 event.
The two no longer have heat with each other and Roberts dropped the charges he had brought up against Smith, but the star is still wanted by the police due to the confrontation between the two at New Orleans.
Thanks to Pro Wrestling Sheet for the heads up.
In case you didn't know...
Harry Smith worked in WWE as Davey Boy Smith Jr, where he used to team up with Tyson Kidd. The duo wrestled as the Hart Dynasty. Smith's father was the wrestling legend, the British Bulldog.
Smith went to Japan after his tag team with Tyson Kidd broke up. He was restricted to a lower position on the card, and he asked for a release from WWE.
At WrestleCon 2018, Smith had gone to confront Jake Roberts for 'disparaging comments' he had made during a podcast with Roddy Piper with regards to Smith's father, British Bulldog.
This confrontation ended up with Roberts avoiding talking to Smith and telling him to 'f*** off'. Smith ended up throwing hot coffee at Roberts in a fit of temper.
The heart of the matter
The New Orleans Police Department had issued a statement after the incident, where they talked about what had happened.
According to the report, punitive measures for such incidents in the State of Louisana usually involves a six-month imprisonment or a $1000 amercement.
Smith posted on social media where he said that he had talked with Roberts over the phone and that they had put their differences aside.
He said that Jake had agreed to drop his charges against him as well. He went on to say that he was able to talk to Roddy Piper before he had passed away, regarding the podcast.
"I’d like to announce publicly and officially that I spoke with Jake Roberts on the phone today and we squashed heat we have for what happened at the WrestleCon event. I apologized and said I would apologize publicly as Jake agreed he would be dropping any charges pressed against me."
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, a rep from the New Orleans Police Department said the charges have not been dropped yet against Smith, and he is still wanted by them. Before the charges can be dropped only after Smith is arrested or a summons is issued against him.
"Since this is a municipal charge, the victim can withdraw all charges by going through the city attorney’s office once the perpetrator has been located and either arrested or issued a summons."
The rep said that Smith was still wanted at the time they made the statement.
What's next?
The matter remains unsolved, and though Roberts is willing to drop the charges, it looks like Smith will have to be arrested. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for the latest updates regarding the legal issues which Smith faces.
