HBK Talks Hulk Hogan Feud, Last Words To Ultimate Warrior, Vince, His Original Bodyguard Idea
As noted yesterday, WrestlingINC.com reader Scott H. attended Shawn Michaels’ Q&A in Manchester earlier this week. Here are some more highlights from the Q&A:
Shawn talked about going solo and the split with Marty Jannetty. He talked about how he didn’t want to work with Sherri Martel and he didn’t like his theme song. Pat Patterson told him that plain and simple, Sherri would elevate him as she had only been with top guys.
Jimmy Hart still thinks that it’s great that HBK uses the music Jimmy created for him in January of 1992.
A fan asked Shawn about overselling in the SummerSlam 2005 match with Hulk Hogan. Shawn said that he had sold the same way against Nash in 1995 and that everyone thought it was fantastic then. HBK revealed it was supposed to be a best of 3 series with Hulk, with both having a win apiece and then a final match, but it didn’t quite happen that way.
It was Stephanie McMahon who helped him write the Larry King skit about Hulk Hogan in 2005, which you can watch above.
Shawn talked about Kevin Nash and Sid Vicious being his bodyguard. HBK at first had an idea for Curtis Hughes to be his bodyguard.
Shawn has a lot of respect for Vince McMahon, and he told stories about the type of person that Vince really is.
Shawn spoke to the Ultimate Warrior at the Hall Of Fame and said to him that it was so lovely to see him with his 2 daughters. He said he was proud the last thing he ever said to Warrior was a positive and nice thing.
Shawn laughed off a lot of internet reports about him, how people think they know everything there is to know about the business and the smart marks are the easiest to fool.
Shawn mentions Jim Ross’ podcast and noted that he recently did an interview with JR.
In the closing off the show, Shawn made a very emotional 2 minute speech in which he thanked the fans for being there for him all those years. He thanked the fans for being decent and respectful with him and gave us a wonderful insight into how much this show of respect means to him.
Shawn Michaels is a wonderful person to be around, and if you get the chance please do try and meet this amazing man. He did it for many years in the ring, and now with his shows, Shawn Michaels once again has challenged everyone who does a show after him “to follow that”!
