Heel champion stuns Roman Reigns, Triple H ignores huge mistake? - Best & Worst of WWE SmackDown this week
Triple H delivered a solid edition of WWE SmackDown this week. The blue brand witnessed Roman Reigns fall to his knees for the first time in four years. Additionally, new challengers for top champions were confirmed in the show as all eyes turned towards Bash in Berlin.
Here, we look at the best and worst from the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. So, without further ado, let's begin.
#1. Best on WWE SmackDown - The Bloodline gets one over Roman Reigns
The closing moments of SmackDown saw Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline attempt to assert their dominance after being humiliated by Roman Reigns for two weeks in a row. The Original Tribal Chief once again emerged and destroyed the faction, but this time, Sikoa had a plan.
Jacob Fatu blindsided Roman Reigns and took him down with a surprise attack, allowing The Bloodline to put the former World Champion through the announcer's desk. This was the first time Sikoa looked strong in this storyline, thanks to his Enforcer. Not only did the segment restore a balance between both sides in the rivalry, but it also raised questions over who would help Reigns.
#2. Best on WWE SmackDown - LA Knight's championship reign
LA Knight defeated Logan Paul to win the United States Championship at SummerSlam. Contrary to the previous reign, it appears the creative team is looking to book Knight as a fighting champion right off the bat. He will put his gold on the line against Santos Escobar on SmackDown next week.
WWE is quietly building up the division with an interesting feud between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes. The rivalry has elevated both superstars on the blue brand and could soon lead to them entering the United States Championship picture. Fans have long waited for Knight to hold his first title on the main roster, and so far, it appears that the promotion has plans to follow his monumental win with a solid championship reign.
#3. Best on WWE SmackDown - The Street Profits find redemption
This week's episode of the blue brand saw The Street Profits lock horns with DIY for a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins slipped through the cracks on SmackDown, struggling to find their place in the tag team division.
The former champions desperately needed a major win, which they got this week. Ford and Dawkins will now challenge The Bloodline for the tag titles. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano could have been fine contenders, too, but The Street Profits needed this rare opportunity more than DIY.
#4. Worst on WWE SmackDown - No Tag Team Championship match at Bash in Berlin
Although The Street Profits' victory on WWE SmackDown was a good decision, Triple H is seemingly willing to ignore his mistake from SummerSlam. The previous premium live event did not see any tag team championships being defended, and the same could be true for Bash in Berlin.
The Bloodline are scheduled to defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits next week on SmackDown, a week before the next PLE. Many expect Jimmy Uso to make a surprise return and facilitate a title change. However, it could have been booked for Bash in Berlin, especially since only three matches have been announced for the show so far.
