History makers and the NXT standard - 5  Motor City Machine Guns dream matches that may happen in WWE

The Motor City Machine Guns - Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin - could reportedly be headed to WWE. The team finished up with TNA Wrestling earlier this year but has been on the free-agent market for the last few months.

The sought-after tandem has been linked to both WWE and AEW, but a recent report states that the multi-time TNA Tag Team Champions are likely heading to join the Stamford-based promotion.

Both stars had brief encounters with the company albeit in NXT. Sabin was a guest coach at the Performance Center. Shelley teamed with Kushida as the Time Splitters for the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The next five dream matches must be booked if the legendary tag team joins WWE.

#5. The Street Profits are one of the top teams on SmackDown

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have won gold in NXT and on the main roster. They're one of the most popular teams in the sport but have been treading water over the last two years.

The pairing with Bobby Lashley was supposed to reboot them as heels, but it was quickly abandoned, and the faction returned to smiling faces.

The Street Profits can still pump up the crowd and would be able to match The Motor City Machine Guns in a potential dream match.

#4. Axiom and Nathan Frazer have stabilized the NXT Tag team ranks

While they're exciting alone, Axiom and Nathan Frazer are as exciting as a tag team. The current NXT Tag Team Champs have put the division on track after a few changes over the last year.

Their fast-paced style would mesh well with Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley if they joined NXT. The up-and-coming teams could learn from the masters of the craft who have helped define tag team wrestling over the last 20 years.

Some new signees start off in NXT for a spell before joining the main roster. They'd have to face the best team in the brand at some point, and that's Axiom and Frazer.

#3. Pretty Deadly would offer a different challenge

Most fans know The Motor City Machine Guns due to the resume of matches they've had. They've competed in NJPW, IMPACT, ROH, and other promotions, facing the best in the world.

Elton Prince and Kit Wilson have perfected their act so much that it can be easy to forget that they are hilarious and technically proficient.

Their segments with The New Day and Chelsea Green were comedic gold, but they proved they belonged whenever they were in the ring. Sabin and Shelley are also hilarious when given the chance. Wrestle House allowed Sabin to flex his comedic chops.

It took some time, but Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa finally captured gold on the main roster. The NXT legends carried WWE's third brand for years, creating several memorable moments.

The Guns are long considered one of the best tag teams of all time and are arguably the top team in TNA history. All four stars are respected veterans who excel at in-ring storytelling.

If Shelley and Sabin joined WWE, a battle for supremacy would be perfect. They'd have to work up to a potential title shot but have the pedigree to advance quickly.

#1. The New Day is one of the top teams in WWE history

When recounting the history of tag team wrestling in WWE, The New Day is at the top of the list. Along with The Usos, The New Day defined tag team wrestling in the company for over a decade.

While Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods took turns as Champions, the pairings always delivered in feuds. With Big E out of action due to a serious neck injury, Kingston and Woods would potentially oppose Sabin and Shelley.

Not only would the matches pit two of the greatest teams of all time against each other but would also provide great promo battles. The Guns could add The New Day to a list of teams they faced, including The Young Bucks, FTR, The Briscoes, Rascalz, The O.C., Team 3D, and Beer Money.
