Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the biggest film star in the world today. This wasn’t always the case, as the Brahma Bull had an unsuccessful Football career due to his injury prone nature. He then decided to take the path that his family set in becoming a Professional Wrestler. While his father, WWE Hall Of Famer Rocky Johnson, initially refused to let him wrestle, he then decided to train him on his own.

Pat Patterson, who The Rock till date considers amongst his biggest mentors, got him tryouts with the WWF. Eventually, ‘The Great One’ debuted at Survivor Series 1996 under the name “Rocky Maivia”, which was rejected by the fans at first. The failure of his gimmick led him to turn heel and transform into The Rock, and the rest, as they say, is history. 

The Rock became the hottest star of the Attitude Era along with Stone Cold Steve Austin, and his popularity shot to mainstream levels as well. While the transition to Hollywood would be anything but easy, The Rock has only been on an upward slope ever since and has never looked back.
