How WWE can use CM Punk's exit storyline for WrestleMania XXX
The reason we started loving WWE back in the old days was due to its ability to blur the lines between kayfabe and reality. Though we are void of situations like that in the new and “improved” PG Era, the recent story revolving the departure of CM Punk has kicked things into a different gear.
Each and every fan in the WWE Universe was shocked to hear the news of Punk walking out on the company and the curiosity levels touched the skies when WWE stopped mentioning the straight edge superstar.
Is it another brilliant storyline from the stale creative team or did Punk really walk out after being fed up with the part timers getting the bigger push? It’s a fact that only time will tell but with the WrestleMania approaching rapidly, the worst case scenario of Punk leaving the company should be dealt with.
It’s no secret that Punk is one among the most over superstar in the business at the moment and no one still matches the charisma he possess on the microphone. Losing him on the buildup to WrestleMania will be the biggest loss to start with but the only thing that they could do if it happens is to incorporate it into any storyline to benefit from his star power.
Before his so called departure, Punk was entangled with the Authority which might have potentially led to a match with Triple H at WrestleMania. He was constantly in the mission to cause the authority problems and even made physical confrontation with Kane before the big red machine eventually cost Punk the Royal Rumble.
Punk was actually a big threat to Triple H and his power structure and they will be in a constant dilemma in replacing Punk.
At the current situation the best replacement that the company could find for Punk is Daniel Bryan. The flying goat also has history with the Authority and serves a different kind of dimension to the angle than what Punk provided.
However, this is the time where WWE could use Punk’s departure as their advantage.
Ever since Triple H has been involved in the authority angle, the Game hasn’t been established himself as a top heel due to the repeated swings he has been taking. And the company won’t have benefit from him facing a top face if his character doesn’t have a good base.
