How WWE is possibly headed in the wrong direction with the Becky Lynch storyline

The last year in the women's division and pretty much all of WWE has belonged to 'The Man' Becky Lynch. After being considered a bland babyface with no real direction in her character, as well as performing on pre-shows, she has grabbed the brass ring with her new attitude and ran with it.

Her surging popularity makes people remember what things were like at the height of Stone Cold Steve Austin's popularity. Becky's character has shown that if given the ball, she can certainly run with it.

Becky's character transformation has been welcomed positively by most people, with her anti-hero, no-nonsense, badass attitude, fighting the Authority persona. It has been what has arguably got her over. She comes across as a believable character who connects with the audience because of her underdog situation.

At the moment, she is set to take on Ronda Rousey and perhaps Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35. She is also currently feuding with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H about a possible storyline knee injury sustained at the Royal Rumble PPV.

Triple H and Stephanie have currently 'suspended' her from WWE until she gets medical clearance from the doctors. They have also questioned if she's scared to face Ronda Rousey while accusing her of having a fake injury to get out of the match. Here however lies the problem with it all.

With how Triple H berated Becky's character on SmackDown Live on Tuesday, as well as certain aspects of what happened on Raw the previous night, they have made her genuinely seem like she is scared to face Ronda. We know that she isn't injured and it's all being done to protect her for WrestleMania.

Presenting her as scared, and somebody who can't back up what she says is completely the wrong way to go about her character. With her character, they need to have her stomping mud holes in people and taking names. She needs to raise as much hell as she can with everybody, not just the Authority.

The WWE is risking her credibility if they don't have her being more physical and wrestling TV matches more, which would make her not look like a threat to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania.

Even if they just have Becky in short matches where she brutalizes her opponent, it will make her look like a credible threat and not somebody who just trash talks on Twitter or in promo segments.

Don't get me wrong, I love the segments she does, but she needs to look strong physically in the ring against opponents, as well as in promo segments.

I will admit that she has been in brawls with Asuka and Charlotte before matches with them, but she needs more TV match time before WrestleMania.

If they insist on having this story-line go on about her being suspended, then keeping her off TV for a week or two wouldn't hurt, to make us want her back desperately. It still gives WWE plenty of time to get her to be more physically credible when she gets back. Also, Becky's character and mystique won't face over-exposure.

The Authority story-line isn't really needed here to build her feud with Ronda. It does feel a bit like they want to do the usual shtick of holding back the underdog to build her character up more before the big match.

Becky has built her character up organically and that's how it should stay. Sure, it's entertaining to watch, but WWE has run that angle too many times already.

Becky has the ability in her to carry the story with Ronda till WrestleMania. If rumors are believed of Charlotte being added, then there are enough combustible elements for this story to last till then. It would be a top story-line with the storied rivalry these three have, and it would stay white hot till WrestleMania.

For now, we will just have to see which direction WWE is going to take Becky.
