Darren Young with Matt Lauer on NBC news

WWE star Darren Young, who came out of the closet recently, has openly spoken about his fears and insecurities in front of the media.

He said, “I was terrified of losing friends, losing my job, just everything.I had no idea what would happen if I came out.”

Young’s sexuality was found out by his parents and friends while he was  under contract for NXT two years ago and had kept it under wraps fearing  unsavory consequences.

He said he was “tired of hiding” and “wanted to be able to take [boyfriend of two years Niccolo 'Nick' Villa] with me to WWE functions. He also wanted to hold hands with him and do all things heterosexual couples would normally do.

Frederick Douglas Rosser III (Young’s real name) opened up about his sexuality to a TMZ cameraman at random and said he later went to his hotel room “throwing up and crying” for doing so. His worst fears resulted to nothing as his colleagues and various Sports-entertainment organizations accepted him for what he was.

Titus O’Nell, Young’s tag team partner said, “His sexual orientation never had anything to do with him as a person, and at the end of the day it shouldn’t matter.”

The superstar is said to be surprised by the positive reactions he has been getting.
