Impact News: EC3 comments on recent departures and what the company needs to do going forward

What's the story?

From Impact Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III recently spoke with The Mirror in the United Kingdom.

WrestlingInc.com provided the transcript of the interview that covered the recent departures from Impact Wrestling and what the company needs to do to cement its place in the wrestling landscape going forward.

In case you didn't know...

EC3 was a member of the NXT roster before finding major success in Impact Wrestling. He wrestled as Derrick Bateman in the early days of NXT as a brand from 2010 to 2013.

A few months after being released from the WWE, he would sign with Impact Wrestling as Dixie Carter's nephew.

The heart of the matter

The Mirror jokingly told EC3 that it's been hard trying to keep up with all the changes in Impact Wrestling; which EC3 would come back with "try working here."

When talking about the number of major talents leaving the company over the past couple of years, EC3 stated that it's just a part of the business and you just have to adjust to the changes. EC3 would expand on those thoughts with the quote below:

"I think people over complicate changes in the business. People come, people go, no matter where a talent is, we're all gears in a machine in a way, so things do change and just because they do change, it doesn't mean they are changing in a negative for either the talent or the company. This place is wide open and opportunities are aplenty for people to get an opportunity, to step up and challenge for top spots, people - pun intended - to make an Impact."

According to EC3, the opportunity is there. If people on the current roster can step up to make that "impact" the company will continue to be fine.

What's next?

EC3 recently lost the Impact Grand Championship to Matt Sydal. The next step for EC3 is most likely him looking for a chance to regain it on a future edition of Impact Wrestling.

He hasn't held the Impact Global Championship since early 2016 and considering he's still with the company, they might give him a shot at the main prize of Impact Wrestling soon.

Author's take

EC3 is the definition of a company man. Maybe the Sting of WCW if Impact Wrestling does meet its demise one day.

He's done such a great job establishing himself as a top star on Impact and he will continue to lead the company for years to come.
