What’s the story?

The National Wrestling Alliance’s owner Billy Corgan recently spoke to Busted Open Radio about his future plans with the NWA and his experiences while working with Impact Wrestling.

During the conversation, Corgan also talked about how current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis would get openly buried by Impact Wrestling management.

In case you didn’t know…

Nick Aldis, aka Magnus, wrestled under TNA from 2008-2015, and during his tenure with the company, Magnus held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship, as well.

After leaving Impact for almost two years, Magnus made his return to the promotion for a brief stint in 2017. However, the 31-year-old’s run with the company did not last long as he departed within the very same year.

He is also the partner of current WWE Superstar Mickie James.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with Busted Open Radio, Corgan claimed that at recent TNA meetings, former Impact World Champion Nick Aldis was allegedly "buried" by the Impact management and the current Impact executives, who seemingly claimed that they did not like working with the Englishman due to his cocky and brash attitude.

“You would say this guy is in his prime - both as a performer and as a talent - and it was always about his attitude. People didn't want to work with him,” Corgan stated.

However, Corgan added that he never had any sort of issues with Aldis and when the right moment came, The Smashing Pumpkins frontman took full advantage of the opportunity of working alongside the former Magnus in NWA. Corgan lastly praised Aldis by labeling him as a ‘top tier talent’.

What’s next?

After making his debut for the NWA in September of 2017, Aldis immediately won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Tim Storm and now is in his first reign as NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Author’s take

Magnus was definitely a huge part of Impact Wrestling during his time with the company. Hopefully, he can be the driving force behind an NWA revival.
