What's the story?

It's been on the cards for a while. Bound For Glory was held in Canada and all of Impact Wrestling's referees parted ways with the company, as well as several of its wrestlers.

Now, the wrestling promotion has officially announced that they will now be based in Canada.

In case you didn't know...

Impact Wrestling has had a roller-coaster over the last few years, but one of the constants the company could boast of, was that it always filmed its tapings at Universal Studios Orlando's Soundstage 21, affectionately dubbed the Impact Zone.

However, since Anthem took over ownership of Impact Wrestling, they have begun the process of moving the company from Nashville Tennessee, with staff in the Nashville office receiving email correspondence that they would be “consolidating” the office with the Anthem office in Toronto.

This seemingly confirmed the rumours of a move north of the North American border.

The heart of the matter

It seems that the move to Canada has now been confirmed with Jeremy Borash stating that the company is now officially a Canadian based company and that there would be plenty more tapings held in the country, as reported by this Twitter user currently at tonight's Impact Wrestling tapings.

The letting-go of referees, using volunteers to set up Bound For Glory and general cost-cutting actions now make a whole lot more sense as the company attempts to rebuild in an entirely new country.

What's next?

I have my fingers crossed that Impact Wrestling can rebuild and re-establish themselves as the number two wrestling show on television as years of mismanagement and talent loss have severely hurt them.

We'll have to wait and see if this is a good move or not, but they seem to be moving in the right direction.

Author's take

In a way, I think it's a shame that Impact Wrestling is leaving the Impact Zone behind, but hopefully, they'll remember where they were for fifteen years and return there every now and then to appease the die-hard Floridian fans they've built up over the years.
