Impact Wrestling News: Impact Wrestling signs Jinder Mahal's uncle, Gama Singh

What's the story?

Long before his own nephew played the part, WWE Superstar Jinder Mahal's uncle, Gama Singh, was a villainous heel in Calgary's Stampede Wrestling. To inspire the next generation of professional wrestlers, he's now signed on to Impact Wrestling.

In the video linked above, Singh equated his impact over the international world to Hulk Hogan's in America. It will be interesting to see what Gama Singh brings to the table following his rather bold claim!

In case you didn't know...

Gama Singh is certainly a legend. Born Gadowar Singh Sahota, Singh was a part of the legendary stable known as Karachi Vice in Stampede Wrestling, run by Stu Hart. The kind of heel heat that he would generate would be quite intense.

What is not very well known is the fact that Gama Singh did wrestle for WWE as well, on a variety of overseas tours. Later, he began focusing on real estate and moved away from the world of professional wrestling for good.

The heart of the matter

We doubt that at the age of 63, Singh will be doing much actual wrestling for Impact Wrestling. This is what he says in the promo video:

What Hulk Hogan was in America, I was to the international wrestling world. And all that knowledge that I have within me, I want to pass it on to the next generation of Indian wrestlers.

Will we see Singh in a managerial role, in that case? Which 'Indian Wrestlers' in the Impact Wrestling rosters will he be mentoring?

What's next?

We are just as baffled as you are, right now. Only time will tell what Gama Singh's role is. And also, when he makes his television debut for the company!

Author's take

I'm a mark for old-school wrestling and I will admit that I did mark out, just a little. It'll be really cool to see Gama Singh perform, because he was in his prime, before my time.

I wish him all the best, and hope that his run is quite successful.
