Impact Wrestling News: Reason why James Storm left Impact Wrestling
What's the story?
On the 9th of November, 2017, Cowboy James Storm announced his departure from Impact Wrestling. Over the years there had been numerous stars coming and going from Impact, but James Storm was one of the consistent faces of the company.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed the reason for his departure from the company is related to the financial difficulties being faced by Impact. With his contract coming to an end they could not afford to renew it and continue to pay him in the future.
In case you didn't know....
James Storm was part of Impact Wrestling from the very first day of the company. Known for his Tag Team runs with the company, he had captured the NWA Tag Team Titles seven times as well as the TNA Tag Team Titles another seven times. James Storm is also a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion. He was also a member of groups like America's Most Wanted and Beer Money.
Storm announced his departure from the company on Twitter, and though many people thought it was a work at first, it is legitimate.
The heart of the matter
James Storm announced his departure from Impact Wrestling on Twitter on the 9th of November. He left the company after a 'Loser Leaves Impact' match. He is not the first, nor will he be the last star to leave Impact given Anthem's cost-cutting measure for the company.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed the reason for his departure saying his contract had been set to expire. By his contract, he was paid $150,000 to $200,000 annually, and Impact Wrestling could no longer afford to renew the contract and pay him that amount of money.
What's next?
Bobby Roode, James Storm's partner in Beer Money, is wrestling in WWE at the moment. Given that Storm is now free, he could be signed by WWE. There is a possibility of a reunion between the two talents.
Author's take
James Storm is only the latest of Impact's stars to leave the company. He was with the company from its first day, and his departure is a sad occasion for fans.
