Impact Wrestling News: Return to the Impact Zone planned for 2018
What’s the story?
Impact Wrestling confirmed that the company will return to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida in January 2018.
In case you didn’t know...
Impact Wrestling consistently used Soundstage 21 at Universal Studios Orlando to film programming back in 2004 and the venue became the primary location that the company used for tapings.
Soundstage 21 was known to Impact Wrestling fans as the Impact Zone and has been synonymous with their product since the television show started airing nationally.
The heart of the matter
Impact Wrestling will kick off the year filming the next set of television tapings at the Impact Zone. The Impact Zone tapings will begin on January 10, 2018, and will end on January 15, 2018.
The company left the Impact Zone and the United States back in November to relocate to Canada’s capital, Ottawa, Ontario — ending their 13-year run with the venue. The decision to relocate to Canada was more than likely due to Impact Wrestling’s parent company, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, being based in Toronto, Ontario.
Many fans criticized Impact Wrestling for only taping shows at the Impact Zone, but it's unknown whether returning to the venue after being gone for less than two months will have any effect on crowd engagement and their viewership.
What’s next?
The dates for the next Impact Wrestling TV tapings have been revealed, but there’s no telling when the show will air on POP TV.
TV Tapings usually air several weeks after they’ve been taped, so the shows from the Impact Zone may not be seen on POP TV until February or March.
Author’s take
Returning to the Impact Zone so soon after leaving doesn’t seem like it will bode well, but if Impact has some big plans for those shows, then everything should be alright.
