Impact Wrestling News: WWE Hall of Famer says Vince McMahon will buy Impact Wrestling
What's the story?
Many experts have predicted Impact Wrestling's death, through the years. Now it is WWE Hall of Famer Barry Windham, who revealed in an interview with The Hannibal TV, that he believed Vince McMahon would buy his competition out soon.
In fact, Windham seemed quite certain that McMahon will buy Impact Wrestling in a year or two. According to Windham, he'll probably do so because of Impact Wrestling's massive tape library.
In case you didn't know...
Impact Wrestling is a promotion that has always seemed like it was on the verge of greatness, but poor decision making from senior management as well as the lack of steady leadership never allowed it to reach its potential.
Only last year, there were several changes of guard. The company also changed its name from TNA to GFW to Impact Wrestling, in the span of a year.
The constant coming and going of talent also made it difficult to ensure consistency in their storylines.
The heart of the matter
Windham was asked what Impact Wrestling could do to get out of its slump. He replied in the following manner:
Well, I don't know. I would like to think that somebody will come along but it's probably going to be Vince to buy them, just for their tape library. Just to have access to that. That'll probably happen in the next year or two.
Windham admitted that he used to follow Impact Wrestling but it got so erratic that it became hard to follow.
What's next?
Impact Wrestling is under new management now. The company has lost a lot of talent, but it's constantly also bringing in new talent. We believe they'll be in business for a while, quite honestly.
Author's take
I am part of Impact Wrestling's conference calls on a weekly basis, and I know for a fact that the new management hopes to not repeat the mistakes of the previous owners. They're constantly working to bring stability to the product, with a fresh crop of wrestling talent.
Of course, I want them to succeed, because the more wrestling there is...the merrier it is overall, right?
