Impact Wrestling Spoilers: New GFW World Champion crowned at Impact Wrestling tapings
As reported earlier, Impact Wrestling (IW) officially merged with Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling (GFW), with IW completely absorbing the roster and the titles of GFW. In what was the first major effect of the merger, Alberto El Patron defeated the reigning GFW World Champion Magnus at the most recent IW tapings.
The fans in attendance were said to be quite hot for the match that included many solid spots and false finishes. In the end, El Patron, as he’s now known, submitted Magnus to the Rompe Destinos to become the new GFW World Champion.
Despite all the hate he's spewing towards the WWE, Alberto seems focussed on the job at hand and that is to make Impact great again by putting in solid performances. He’s stated he wants to retire in the company and since his arrival, has already won the IW World title and now the GFW title.
Double J’s move to bring two of his pet projects under one banner has strengthened the roster and has increased the scope for better storylines. It seems they are looking at following a two-brand policy that the WWE is currently employing, with GFW to preserve its titles and have a separate roster.
It will be interesting to see where this all leads to. For now, we congratulate the former WWE Champion on his win. Si! Si! Si!
