Injured 14-time World Champion, absent main roster performer? 4 stars who can win the WWE Speed Women's Championship
WWE Speed is the Sports Entertainment juggernaut's newest weekly show. The program debuted on April 3, 2024, exclusively on X. In the time since then, Speed has aired every single Wednesday and some select Fridays as well.
Notably, the show only features one match per "episode." Speed has a special theme where the standard match has a three-minute time limit, while championship matches have a five-minute time limit. This creates a scenario where wrestlers need to race against time to defeat their opponents.
The first-ever Speed Champion was Ricochet, who was defeated by reigning champion Andrade.
In big news, Triple H revealed on X (Twitter) that the WWE Speed Women's Championship Tournament will kickstart on September 4, 2024.
So far, no participants have been announced for the upcoming tournament, but many are speculating over who may become the first-ever champion. This article will take a look at four performers who could be the very first to hold the Speed Women's Title.
Below are four stars who can win the WWE Speed Women's Championship:
#4. Candice LeRae would be perfect as the first champion
Candice LeRae is a veteran pro wrestler who has been in the game for a few decades. While she hasn't had as much success in WWE as many would have hoped, she is a former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion.
The Poison Pixie has had an up-and-down run since being drafted to SmackDown earlier this year. She has had five broadcasted matches since making the jump and has lost every single one, but LeRae looked good even in defeats and had a storyline for a while.
Recently, however, Candice hasn't been prominently featured. Having her in the Speed Women's Championship Tournament and winning the belt could be a great way to utilize the veteran. She can help elevate others, and she's a quick athlete, which fits the gimmick of Speed.
#3. Tegan Nox has been absent from WWE television
Tegan Nox is an extremely underrated and underutilized WWE performer. While she has yet to hold a title in the company, Nox has developed a sizable fanbase.
Unfortunately, The Girl With The Shiniest Wizard has been absent from WWE television since April. She was also drafted to the blue brand but has yet to compete. Tegan has done some dark matches, which means she isn't injured, but the Welsh star isn't being used on TV.
This makes her a perfect option for the Speed Women's Championship. Being involved in and potentially winning the tournament could get Tegan back on television and in a major spot moving forward. If she holds the gold, SmackDown will surely want to showcase her even if the belt isn't defended on the blue brand.
#2. Sol Ruca has the ideal in-ring style for Speed
Sol Ruca is one of the most impressive young athletes in WWE. The 24-year-old is quickly rising through the ranks of the white and gold brand and has one of the best finishers in the form of the Sol Snatcher.
The athletic star is attempting to win her first title as a pro wrestler. She has come close to winning the WWE NXT Women's North American Championship on a couple of occasions and has seemingly had interest in Roxanne Perez's NXT Women's Championship, too.
While those may be unattainable for the time being, Sol could shift her focus to the Speed Women's Championship. Given her incredible athleticism and agility, Speed may be the perfect place for Ruca to thrive. Why not let an NXT star become the first champion?
#1. Charlotte Flair could return and win the title
Charlotte Flair is one of the most decorated female athletes in wrestling history. The Queen is a 14-time World Champion on the main roster. Additionally, Charlotte is a two-time NXT Women's Champion and has also held the WWE Women's Tag Team Title.
The Queen is another star who has been absent from WWE programming, but it isn't due to booking. Flair was injured during a match with Asuka last December and has been out of action ever since. Despite that, Flair has been teasing a comeback on social media.
Flair winning so many titles is impressive, but the newly announced Speed Women's Championship is one belt she's yet to hold. This could mean Charlotte may want to challenge for and win the gold to add to her already impressive resume. This would make the title feel even more important given her star power.
