Injured former world champion, Cody Rhodes' ally? - 4 popular names who should return as WWE stars' managers in 2024

The Triple H era of WWE has been looking to focus on many areas that were arguably overlooked or outright neglected during the Vince McMahon-led regime. For example, the mid-card titles on RAW and SmackDown mean far more in The Game's regime compared to when Vince McMahon was the creative head of the global juggernaut.

While the tag team divisions have peaks and valleys, overall, tag team wrestling has been more of a focus in the Triple H era too. There is one category that still needs focus, however, and that's managers.

There are some managers in the company. Paul Heyman is the most notable one, while the likes of Scarlett and Paul Ellering also play that role. Overall, though, there are very few traditional managers who don't also compete in the ring.

Triple H and World Wrestling Entertainment could correct this, and they could start by bringing back some popular names to television who can potentially fit in the role. This article will look at four stars who should return as WWE stars' managers in 2024.

#4 Arn Anderson could serve as Cody Rhodes' manager

Arn Anderson is a legend in pro wrestling. He was a member of the famed Four Horsemen but also had success as one-half of The Brain Busters while in WWE. He has gone on to have a great career as a producer.

Cody Rhodes is the Undisputed WWE Champion. He won the title by defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. Months later, he is once again feuding with The Bloodline while still holding the coveted title.

Anderson and Rhodes have a lot of history together. They worked together off-screen in World Wrestling Entertainment and then on-screen in AEW. Now that the Hall of Famer is no longer with All Elite Wrestling, he could return to the biggest wrestling promotion in the world and reunite with The American Nightmare.

#3 AJ Lee could return to WWE and help manage stars in the women's division

AJ Lee is a former WWE Superstar. She came up in the company through the competition show era of NXT, but later became a multi-time Divas Champion and even held the position of general manager.

The former WWE Divas Champion could return to the sports entertainment juggernaut thanks to the recent comeback of CM Punk. If their family has made peace with the promotion, Lee's comeback seems possible.

Due to Lee having health issues that contributed to her retirement, a return to the ring seems unlikely. Instead, she could take some stars under her wing and begin managing them. Up-and-comers like Raquel Rodriguez, Lola Vice, or Zoey Stark could flourish under the veteran.

#2 Big E could manage The New Day

Big E is a former WWE Champion, who also dominated the tag team scene for quite some time. Unfortunately, the popular star hasn't competed in over two years, as an awkward landing off a suplex forced the powerhouse to take a break from pro wrestling. It isn't clear if he'll ever return to in-ring competition.

The New Day is a stable that previously featured the former WWE Champion alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Ever since Big E was injured, the group hasn't been the same.

If Big E never returns to the ring, he could make a comeback as a manager. The man has charisma for days and can talk on the microphone. With his personality and popularity, E could make for a great manager.

#1 Kurt Angle could help a new Alpha Academy

Kurt Angle is a WWE Hall of Famer and a multi-time world champion. While Angle retired from the ring at WrestleMania 35, he still appears on television sporadically.

The Alpha Academy is a stable on WWE RAW that is going through changes. Chad Gable led the group, but Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa recently walked out on him. There is a belief that Gable will soon end up with The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile in a new version of the faction.

If Gable, The Creed Brothers, and Nile combine forces, the heel group could be led by Kurt Angle. He has expressed interest in managing stars in the past, and he has a history of playing a villainous gimmick on TV. Under the tutelage of Master Gable and Angle, the new Alpha Academy could be unstoppable.
