Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso to meet the same fate as his father Rikishi? Chances explored

Jey Uso has been basking in glory as the Intercontinental Champion on Monday Night RAW. With it being his first singles title on the main roster, the excitement of the fans is palpable. However, there is a good possibility that The Yeet Master's championship reign could be short-lived and he could suffer the same fate his father did a few decades ago.

Back in 2000, Rikishi captured the Intercontinental Championship in a similar fashion as his son Jey. However, he lost the coveted title after just 13 days when Tazz attacked him with a camera during his title defense against Val Venis. As a result, the Samoan legend's Intercontinental Championship reign ended with only one title defense.

It looks like Jey Uso could suffer the same fate his father did back in the day. The former Bloodline member is set to defend his title against Xavier Woods tonight on RAW. There are high chances that Kofi Kingston might turn heel during the match to aid his tag team partner. Similar to Tazz, Kingston might attack the reigning champion during the match and help Woods win the coveted title.

As a result, Jey Uso's title reign could end after just two weeks. Even though this could be a startling turn of events, Jey and Rikishi's story could have a poetic similarity. Besides, there are rumors that the 39-year-old could move on to The Bloodline saga ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames. Therefore, this could be a logical way for WWE to take away the Intercontinental Title from him.

Although The Yeet Master's reign could end tragically, it will certainly garner a lot of buzz. It will be interesting to see how things play out tonight when Jey Uso defends his title against Xavier Woods.

Could WWE be planning bigger things for Jey Uso?

For well over a year, Jey Uso has been a mainstay on RAW. The fan favorite has remained consistent with his performance and lived up to his tag as 'Main' Event Jey. However, with the rumors that his title reign could be short, fans have been wondering whether WWE has bigger plans in store for him.

The answer to the question could be positive. The Yeet Master has witnessed a meteoric rise in the past few years in terms of popularity. This makes him quite a star that WWE might rely on. Therefore, there are chances that he might even capture the World Heavyweight Title going forward.

Furthermore, there are speculations that Jey Uso would be reuniting with Roman Reigns in the next few months to reform the O.G. Bloodline. Pairing him with The OTC in the The Bloodline saga, which is currently red-hot, would garner unfathomable buzz around him.

As of now, it is all mere speculation. However, it is going to be a roller coaster ride to witness Jey's upcoming journey in WWE.
