Is Triple H playing it safe with Roman Reigns' SmackDown return? Exploring lack of announcements around the show
Roman Reigns is all set to return to the land that was once his kingdom, SmackDown. Following a more than impressive return at SummerSlam, the Original Tribal Chief has been announced for tonight's episode of the blue brand. However, while it is a big move on WWE and Triple H's part, the company might actually be playing it safe.
As things stand, Roman Reigns' appearance is the only thing that has been announced for tonight's SmackDown. This is a rather surprising turn of events, considering Triple H and WWE usually give fans the lowdown for each episode at least a few days in advance. However, the lack of announcements could be directly related to Reigns' return, and here is why.
Considering that no matches have been announced in advance for tonight's SmackDown, it might be safe to say that Roman Reigns will open the show. Should that be the case, there are a lot of factors to take into account. First and foremost, the Original Tribal Chief's theme song isn't exactly short and sweet, and given that it has been revamped, it will take significantly more time for him to make it to the ring.
With that in mind, Triple H and the rest of the staff may have decided not to reveal too much, in case some segments need to be canceled because of how potentially long Reigns' entrance and promo could be.
It will be interesting to see what SmackDown has in store for us tonight.
Roman Reigns' return racked up a whopping 29 million viewers on WWE's social media
While fans may not know what to expect from Roman Reigns on tonight's SmackDown, they were certainly impressed by what they saw at SummerSlam. The audience in Cleveland, Ohio, was left shocked as Reigns' music hit and he came down to the ring to lay waste to his former Enforcer, Solo Sikoa, during the Bloodline Rules match.
The former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion's blockbuster return at The Biggest Party of The Summer has garnered record traction on WWE's social media accounts. His return has racked up an incredible 29 million views across all social media platforms of the Stamford-based promotion.
It will be interesting to see if Roman addresses Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline 2.0 tonight.
