Is WWE a sport? Exploring Chief Content Officer Triple H's statement
Triple H has done an excellent job since taking over the reins of WWE's creative. Credited for kicking off this new era, many have also praised him for making wrestling cool again. But, despite this new look the WWE has, there is one question that people continue to ponder over, ever since the company's inception. Is WWE a sport?
Well, Triple H recently answered that question, in perhaps the best way possible. Over the years, WWE's product has jumped back and forth from sports and sports entertainment. But, The Game has now clarified that WWE is not a sport. Here's what he had to say:
“We’re not a sport. We’re a movie about a sport or a TV show about a sport,” said Triple H.
In many ways, Triple H hit the bull's-eye with his description. While it is true that WWE Superstars perform incredible athletic feats, most of the matches are scripted. But, with the scripting comes incredible storytelling and emotion that cannot be found elsewhere.
However, limiting WWE to just one category seems ludicrous. As the product continues to evolve, the meaning behind it will surely also evolve. Fortunately, The Cerebral Assassin will be there to see through it all for quite some time.
Triple H recently gave an emphatic two-worded reaction to a WWE Superstar's debut
Triple H has overseen plenty of changes ever since he took over WWE. One of the biggest things he has had to deal with is changes to the roster. Whether that's superstars leaving or new ones coming in, it's safe to say he's done a great job so far. And, this also goes for his latest recruit, the Samoan Werewolf, Jacob Fatu.
On last week's episode of SmackDown, Fatu made an impactful debut and laid out Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. It was a huge moment that marked the continued evolution of one of the company's biggest factions, The Bloodline.
Following the episode, The Game reacted on The Pat McAfee Show to Fatu's debut by calling him a "game changer."
That assessment of Jacob Fatu seems spot on. He was dominant and will be a force to be reckoned with on SmackDown. It will be interesting to see if he surpasses the high expectations that The Cerebral Assassin and the WWE Universe undoubtedly have for him.
