IYO SKY and Kairi Sane offended by Carlito's improvised line on WWE RAW? Exploring the truth
A major talking point among WWE fans following this past Monday's RAW was a remark made by The Judgment Day's Carltio towards Damage CTRL's IYO SKY and Kairi Sane.
The two Japanese stars were seen talking to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce backstage this past Monday. As IYO and Sane left the room speaking in their native language, Carlito walked into the frame and seemingly went off-script, as he said that he's "gotta learn Chinese!"
This comment rubbed some fans the wrong way online, given that SKY and Kairi are from a completely different country with its own language and cultural identity.
While no party within the company has officially commented on Carlito's controversial statement, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live recently said that an insider told him that the Damage CTRL members had no problem with the remark.
"I was told by the same person that told me the Carlito line was an adlib that IYO and Kairi did not have a problem with it. They saw it as him playing an idiot, and that was that. That doesn’t necessarily mean Carlito will not be punished for this, but that’s the story," he said. [H/T: PWMania]
How close was IYO SKY to leaving the WWE?
IYO SKY has been a part of WWE since 2018, and in these six years, the Japanese star has had many stellar matches against top names like Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Bianca Belair, and Asuka.
However, before her transition to the main roster in 2022, SKY was very close to leaving the company. Speaking to MMA Knockout earlier this year, The Genius of The Sky addressed the reports of her being interested in leaving World Wrestling Entertainment in favor of a return to her homeland.
"The rumor is kind of true. Of course, I'm from Japan, so my home is Japan. So, I tried to think should I stay here or back to Japan before joining Damage CTRL, before joining RAW, but now after joining Damage CTRL, I'm so happy!" she said. [H/T: SI.com]
It is safe to say now that SKY made the correct choice in choosing to stay with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut, as the 34-year-old went on to win the Women's Money in the Bank contract last year and later claimed the WWE Women's Title, which she dropped to Bayley at WrestleMania XL.
