WWE News: Jim Ross talks WrestleMania and the best male and female wrestlers in the WWE
What's the story?
WWE Hall of Fame broadcaster Jim Ross sat down with Bleacher Report to discuss a wide range of topics ahead of his live call of Strong Style Evolved for New Japan Pro Wrestling this weekend on AXS TV.
One topic they discussed was WrestleMania and who JR thinks is the best in the WWE today.
In case you didn't know...
Ross is most famous for calling the action during WWE's Attitude Era with Jerry "The King" Lawler, but he started in the business in 1974 for the NWA.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2007 alongside Lawler.
The heart of the matter...
Ross stated that the lineup for WrestleMania 34 is one of the best cards he's seen for the biggest pay per view of the year for the WWE.
He called the Wrestle Kingdom 10 match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, and he believes that the rematch is going to deliver as well.
Regarding this WWE Championship Match, JR added:
"They have incredible, incredible chemistry," Ross said. "I have extremely high expectations for that. I hope people come out of that and say, 'My God, I didn't know Nakamura was that good. I didn't know Nakamura is that physical.'"
In terms of best wrestlers in the WWE today, Ross believes that Styles tops the list. He stated that he is the "top in-ring performer in the business right now."
As for the Women's Division, JR states gave high praise to Charlotte Flair. He knows her father "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair very well as he has called a countless amount of his matches over the years.
Regarding Charlotte, JR said:
"Charlotte Flair is the Hulk Hogan of women's wrestling," Ross said. "She's the present and the future."
What's next?
Ross travels to Long Beach, California for Strong Style Evolved this Sunday, March 25th to call the action with Josh Barnett on AXS TV live.
The main event will feature The Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) against The Young Bucks.
Author's take...
JR knows the wrestling business inside and out, and he gets no objection from me when he states that Styles is the best wrestler in the WWE today.
The Wrestle Kingdom 10 match was amazing, and since this is WrestleMania, Styles and Nakamura may quite possibly up it a notch. I cannot wait.
