Jimmy Uso, Bloodline member and 3 other WWE stars that have recently been 'legitimately' injured
Several WWE superstars are currently off television due to injuries. Most people around the world possibly think that the life of a WWE Superstar must be exciting. They travel the globe and get paid for it. However, their lives aren't easy. They must risk their health weekly with no off-season, which often leads to injuries.
The line between reality and fiction is often blurred in the world of pro wrestling. And so it is often difficult to differentiate between kayfabe and real injuries. The best example of this was the recent case of Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley, who were both legitimately injured. Despite that, fans questioned whether their injuries were real or part of their respective storylines.
Later, it was confirmed that Cargill was written off television weeks before Survivor Series due to a legitimate injury. Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley’s NXT attack was staged to highlight her real-life orbital fracture injury. Although she returned with a mask and competed in the Women’s WarGames Match, she could take some time off now, as Morgan is booked to defend her title against IYO SKY at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Unfortunately, the injury list has grown longer in December 2024, with several superstars being written off television after sustaining legitimate injuries.
Let’s look at five names who are out of action currently owing to legitimate injuries:
#5 Former WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso
At WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, Roman Reigns's OG Bloodline faced Solo Sikoa’s group in a punishing Men’s WarGames Match. The high-stakes clash entertained fans as the athletes involved in the contest performed some risky moves.
Immediately after the match, multiple reports emerged suggesting several stars involved in the bout had sustained injuries. Jimmy Uso, one of the superstars, paid the price and was severely hurt. During the Survivor Series: WarGames post-show press conference, Jey Uso revealed that "Big Jim" had broken his toe after attempting a risky leap from the top of the steel structure.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole announced that Jimmy would be out for an indefinite period.
#4 Bronson Reed
'Big' Bronson Reed was introduced as the last member of Solo Sikoa’s team for the WarGames Match. As expected, he was in a destructive mood, overpowering the competition with his incredible strength. However, he injured himself while attempting a risky leap from the top of the steel structure.
During the match, Reed executed a Tsunami off the top of the cage in a bid to put Roman Reigns through a table. However, CM Punk intervened to aid Reigns, causing Bronson to crash through the table.
The latest episode of SmackDown saw the Stamford-based promotion officially announce the nature of Bronson Reed's injury. The RAW Superstar had broken his foot and was set to undergo surgery. He will be out indefinitely.
#3 Tonga Loa
In the latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole officially announced the injured superstars. Fans were expecting Jimmy Uso and Bronson Reed, but the third name came as a surprise to many.
Cole revealed that former Tag Team Champion Tonga Loa had suffered a torn bicep and would be out of action indefinitely.
#2 Eddy Thorpe
Eddy Thorpe emerged victorious in the Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Last Chance Fatal Four-Way Match, where he defeated Lexis King, Cedric Alexander, and Axiom on the December 3 episode of NXT.
However, Thorpe was shockingly attacked by a mystery assailant backstage before Deadline. NXT General Manager Ava announced that Eddy was not medically cleared and ruled out of the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge due to the attack.
In a shocking twist, a returning Oba Femi replaced him and ended up winning the match. This injury is part of a kayfabe storyline and may lead to significant developments.
#1 Sheamus
Sheamus competed in a Triple-threat Match against Bron Breakker and Ludwig Kaiser for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames. While Bron retained his title, The Celtic Warrior came remarkably close to becoming the new champion.
During the latest episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, while interviewing Bron Breakker, Cathy Kelley revealed that Sheamus had suffered a cracked rib during the Triple Threat Match.
