John Cena to pass the torch to a new babyface on WWE SmackDown tonight? Chances explored

John Cena is the quintessential babyface and has been one for the entirety of his career. However, his run with WWE will soon come to an end, as he is all set for a Retirement Tour in 2025. But, before he can hang up his wrestling gear he needs to pass the torch onto someone else. And he might just do that tonight on SmackDown's season premiere.

For those of you who don't know, tonight is a big night for SmackDown. After years on FOX, the blue brand is moving to the USA Network, and with it, many are anticipating some big returns. One of those returns could be John Cena, and given his decision to retire soon, he may just choose to pass the torch and acknowledge his successor. Who could it be? Well, none other than A-Town Down Under's Austin Theory.

Picture this, as per usual, John Cena returns and cuts a promo that makes the crowd go wild, only to be interrupted by Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Rather than lay out the two superstars, he attempts to appeal to the good within Theory, which has been slowly bubbling to the surface. Cut to later in the night where Cena teams up with Kevin Owens to take on Theory and Waller. Having finally had enough of Waller's shenanigans, Theory implodes on The Aussie Icon before standing tall with The Leader of the Cenation and KO.

It certainly would be quite the story. But, at this point, there really is no telling if John Cena will return tonight, let alone if he will be Owens' mystery partner. That said, you can never say never when it comes to WWE.

A number of top stars want to be involved in John Cena's Retirement Tour

It is uncertain whether John Cena will make an appearance tonight, but what we do know is that he will be making a comeback in 2025. Fans will have the opportunity to witness The Leader of the Cenation for a whole year as he bids farewell to professional wrestling. This upcoming year will serve as a tribute to his career, with many superstars eager to participate.

With this being Cena's final year as a wrestler, numerous superstars are hoping to share the ring with him for one last time. Among the notable names are Seth Rollins, Carmelo Hayes, and possibly Cena's long-time rival, Randy Orton. Although it is unclear who Cena will face, it is set to be a thrilling journey.

It will be interesting to see what WWE plans for one of its greatest superstars of all time. There can be no denying that the tour will be nothing short of spectacular. After all, it signals the end of what has been an incredible era.
