John Cena suffers Groin tear; knee injury was just a WWE angle
- John Cena: Conflicting reports regarding the health of John Cena have been doing the rounds. However, sources have suggested that Cena has indeed suffered from a groin tear, which happened during last Monday’s RAW showdown against The Wyatt Family. Also, the knee injury which was earlier reported was an angle that had been planned by the WWE.
- Steel Cage Match: After the injury angle on last week’s RAW, followed by selling the injury at last Thursday’s NXT Arrival event, Cena wrestled Randy Orton in a steel cage main event match last night, which Orton eventually won by escaping the cage.
Cena had his left knee taped up, while he sold the injury very effectively throughout the match. Following the match, Cena cut a promo and apologized to fans for putting in a weak performance, before adding that the injury suffered by him on RAW was actually a severe groin injury. Cena left saying that he’s in a lot of pain and that he should be resting.
- Backstage: Backstage following the match, it was said that Cena was “pretty bad off” and only continued for the match because of the WreslteMania season. The WWE officials and creative team wanted him to pull out of the live event, which he refused.
- Dave Meltzer: He has reported that there is no real injury to Cena and both his knee and groin are fine. He further adds that Cena is just selling the beating he took at RAW, and that there has been no suggestions from doctors that he should have pulled out of last night’s main event.
