John Cena wins 2013 Royal Rumble match
John Cena won the 2013 Royal Rumble match at Phoenix, Arizona after eliminating Ryback. John Cena, who entered the match at number 19, lasted nearly 30 minutes in a Royal Rumble match that had surprise entrants like Chris Jericho and The Godfather. The Shield did not take part in the Royal Rumble match, which was quite baffling.
This is the second time John Cena has won the Royal Rumble match. He had already won a Royal Rumble match in 2008. That year, he was thwarted on two occasions by Randy Orton, at No Way Out and Wrestlemania 24, failing in his pursuit of the WWE Championship.
With Rock and Brock Lesnar expected to be at Wrestlemania, it is highly likely that John Cena would be involved in a match with either one of these men at Wrestlemania 29 in New Jersey. At the moment, it seems like we are going to have ‘Once in a lifetime: Part II’ - The Rock vs John Cena at Wrestlemania 29.
Though John Cena’s victory was on expected lines, the Royal Rumble match in itself was pretty entertaining, true to its nature.
