BREAKING: As reported by @ryansatin on ‘The Satin Sheet’, former @wwe Intercontinental Champion John Morrison is making his return to WWE!

Regarding his return, there weren't many specifics given. His return date was still up in the air as was the length of his deal and which brand he would be joining. With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, he could feasibly enter the match as a surprise entrant.

While he was away from the company, the former Johnny Mundo/Johnny Impact has had a strong career. He was a major player throughout Lucha Underground's four seasons, winning its title. Mundo then turned his attentions to independent bookings and Impact Wrestling. In Impact Wrestling, he won the Impact World Championship before dropping it to Brian Cage.

In between featured spots in those two promotions, Morrison, real name John Hennigan, also dipped his toes into acting. He played the lead role in his own movie, Boone the Bounty Hunter, while also appearing on Survivor: David vs. Goliath.

His time away from the ring has come at perhaps one of the biggest moments during professional wrestling history. The mainstream appeal of the sport has increased with SmackDown moving to FOX and also with the formation of All Elite Wrestling. We are living in the golden age of wrestling which is great for both fans and wrestlers.

It wasn't going to take long for Morrison to find a new home due to his appeal to every major wrestling promotion. Since he'd already performed for Impact, they were not likely to land his services. With WWE and AEW being the two big dogs concerning money it could offer to talents, those were his most likely landing spots.

After months of wondering where he would land after leaving Impact over the summer, we now know to expect to see him show up on WWE programming some time in the near future. Where will he make his return? Will he be a face or a heel? Who makes sense as his first feud? Stay tuned.
