Kevin Owens opens up about his family and life outside wrestling
There’s a lot more to Kevin Owens than the flamboyant WWE Intercontinental Champion. The wrestler spoke about his life outside the franchise, as well as his family in a recent interview with the WWE website.
Owens confessed that he had a much bigger purpose than just entertaining people and went on to proclaim that he did what he did for his family, saying: “I enjoy every second I get in the ring.
But there’s a bigger picture now and a much bigger purpose to everything and it’s to take care of my kids and my wife and make sure they have a good future. Everything I do really is for my family.”
The 31-year-old also spoke about taking his son along on tour, saying: “I took him out for a whole week before school started. He was with me at every show. He was there all day backstage and everybody got to know him.
It was really cool to see him develop relationships with people I work with and people I look up to. It was crazy and hectic, but that extra time with my family is invaluable.”
And far from his character on WWE, Kevin has a keen sense of values and stated that he puts his heart and soul into his work in order to ensure that his family has a good future. The wrestler reflects on this saying: “When I leave wrestling, I want to make sure what I’ve done and the sacrifices I’ve made can lead to a really good life for the four of us.”
Kevin Owens, whose real name is Kevin Steen, first developed a passion for wrestling at the age of 11, after which he trained under Serge Jodoin and Terry Taylor in his native Canada.
The Quebec-born wrestler originally began his wrestling career with Combat Zone Wrestling before eventually getting recognized by WWE in 2014, with the franchise signing him to the NXT program.
Steen has really come a long with since his debut. With the wrestler originally born in a french speaking family, he learnt to speak English while watching WWE promos. His patient rise to prominence is clearly what made him the dedicated man he is today.
