Kofi Kingston could form a new alliance with 52-year-old WWE star if Xavier Woods turns heel on him
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods' long-time association as part of The New Day might be approaching a tragic end. The iconic faction that has been creating magic in WWE since 2014 has witnessed the seeds of discord over the past few weeks. However, if they split up, Kingston has a very decent partner with whom to associate and form a new team.
And who is that? It’s none other than the former WWE Tag Team Champion, R-Truth, who could ally with Kofi Kingston. Truth and The Miz, who also betrayed his partner, aren’t the Tag Team Champions anymore. So, there are good chances that R-Truth could tie up with the four-time Intercontinental Champion and the two could stitch together a good partnership.
Further, tonight's events on RAW amplify the possibilities of Woods and Kofi breaking up. Let’s understand how things got this tense between Woods and Kingston.
The rift between Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods widens
The discord first appeared between Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods last month when Woods showed his frustration with the former WWE Champion over their loss to The Judgment Day on the September 16 episode of Monday Night RAW. They also argued backstage, which further indicated that all wasn't well in the team.
Even though the duo might have won a World Tag Team Tournament No. 1 contender’s match tonight on RAW against the Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar), it appears that they might not be able to pull off bagging a shot at the title with all the tension between them.
During the match, as R-Truth helped the two against Miz, Woods stopped Kingston from helping Truth when The Final Testament and Miz attacked him. This, despite, Kingston wanting to come out and assist R-Truth. This could only widen the rift between them.
Later, The Wyatt Sicks appeared ringside, and decimated The Miz and everyone else, thereby helping R-Truth.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are not on the same page
Tonight’s segment on RAW hints that The New Day mates aren’t on the same page. From Woods lashing out at his teammate last month on RAW to preventing him from helping R-Truth tonight, it looks increasingly likely that the two might be headed for a separation.
Moreover, in the absence of Big E, who has been out of action for the past two years due to a severe neck injury, The New Day has lost its charm. It seems that the group shall no longer be intact by the time Big E comes back, if he ever does.
R-Truth and Kofi Kingston's union
The next episode of RAW will hopefully paint a clearer picture of how things stand between Kofi and Woods as a team. R-Truth being around can push the chances of the former WWE Champion being betrayed by Woods, and then he can tie up with R-Truth.
Even if Woods and Kingston don't split up immediately, R-Truth’s closeness with the latter could trigger an eventual split. This could bring Kofi and Truth together. In this case, it would be extremely interesting to see how the WWE Universe perceives this new pairing.
