Kofi Kingston gives his opinion on which NXT Superstars will break out next year
The past month of WWE programming featured a plethora of Superstars from NXT. The Undisputed Era, Rhea Ripley and the likes of Tommaso Ciampa and Keith Lee all made lasting impacts on the main roster and the WWE Universe.
Kofi Kingston faced the Undisputed Era on SmackDown and at Survivor Series. He recently revealed which NXT Superstars he thinks will break out in 2020, naming Ciampa and Adam Cole as his picks in an interview with AL.com.
The NeXT wave
With more interaction between main roster Superstars and the ones of NXT lately, it was easier for current members of RAW and SmackDown to get a glimpse of the future. Kingston went through developmental himself and saw some big things from several members of the Black and Yellow brand over the last month.
“So, Adam Cole has already taken a huge step this year being on Raw, SmackDown, NXT, even this past weekend with Survivor Series. Tommaso Ciampa, a guy who I trained with on the come-up who’s been kinda held down by injuries, he has the heart of a lion so I think it’s only a matter of time. He’s been knocking at the door of doing something special, had an amazing performance at Survivor Series this year."
The current SmackDown Tag Team Champion didn't limit his response to those Superstars who have held the NXT Championship. Much like the rest of the WWE Universe, Kingston was impressed with Keith Lee and his performance over Survivor Series weekend.
"Keith Lee killed it this year, being in there with Roman Reigns and going toe-to-toe with Braun Strowman. He has a bright future. The list could go on and on and on, man. There’s so much amazing talent out there right now, and it’s a really, really special time in wrestling right now, and I guess we’ll all find out together.”
2020 is a month away
It was clear from their handling on the main roster that Ciampa, Lee and Cole may all be big players once they move to either RAW or SmackDown. Cole and The Undisputed Era were focal points of the "NXT Invasion" angle and Lee had his moment by lasting until the final two during the men's elimination match. With the new year and the Royal Rumble approaching, we might see the Superstars mentioned by Kingston sooner rather than later.
