Kofi Kingston talks about racism in Wrestling on the road to Wrestlemania XXX
Wrestle mania XXX is only two weeks apart and the journey to the biggest pay per view of the year took another pit-stop at the PNC Arena in Raileigh, NC where Kofi Kingston was seen promoting WWE’s Friday night Live Event.
The four time Intercontinental Champion was in his symbolic upbeat self as he talked about gearing up for what he believes is the biggest event in all of entertainment.
“Wrestle Mania is like our Super Bowl,” said Kingston. “It’s what we have worked toward all year long, and a chance for the audience to watch a feud that has been building for months come to a head.”
The high flying Ghana born superstar discussed his views on how the prospect of racism has faded slowly with time and the situation has improved with an inclination towards the better side.
“People always say, ‘Oh there haven’t been many black champions, “but on the other hand, there are a whole lot of white people that never won a belt either,” said with his ever familiar smile. ” These days, I think it’s less of a racial thing. I honestly believe that if you are able to entertain and interact with the crowd, it doesn’t matter what you may be. [WWE] will reward you.”
Kingston has a major in communications with a concentration in advertising and public relations at Boston College. With the accolade of over 10 championships since his wrestling career started in 2006, he stated how he felt his education has played a definitive part towards his in ring success.
“I was working in the corporate world, and was pretty miserable in my cubicle, so I decided to pursue my wrestling dream,” he said. “A lot of people who want to be WWE superstars don’t believe that there is anything that they can learn in school to help them reach this level, but for me, that was not the case. Everything I do is geared toward how I present myself. I use what I learned in college on a daily basis. If I didn’t, I don’t know that I would have lasted.”
John Cena and the Rhodes brothers will battle against Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family as a part of the Main Event of the night. Kofi Kingston will engage in a feud against Damien Sandow on the 28th of March,2014 as XXXth edition of Mania fever intensifies.
