A look at Lanny Poffo's new podcast "The Genius Cast" podcast, launching this Monday
A second-generation professional wrestler who got his start in the early 1970s, Lanny Poffo is best known to wrestling fans as The Genius. Employed by the WWF for nearly a decade -- initially as Leaping Lanny Poffo -- he was popular for his pre-match poetry, which often skewered audiences and wrestlers alike. After leaving the WWF, Poffo signed with WCW, where he was under contract for a few years. Post-WCW, he made independent appearances, which Poffo continues to do on a part-time basis.
Lanny Poffo was one of the performers featured in the 2018 documentary 350 Days alongside Bret Hart, "Superstar" Billy Graham, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, and J.J. Dillon. Poffo is also a published author, having written Limericks From The Heart (and Lungs!), as released in 2016. But Poffo recently announced a new creative project that ought to keep him busy on a regular basis.
Announced earlier today, The Genius Cast is a new podcast hosted by Poffo and JP Zarka of ProWrestlingStories.com. Launching this Monday, September 3rd, The Genius Cast promises to cover all facets of Poffo's life and career.
Per the ProWrestlingStories.com's introductory posting about The Genius Cast, the podcast's first episode will reportedly focus on Poffo's "resentfulness towards Jerry 'The King' Lawyer and Pat Patterson, why he posthumously inducted his brother Randy into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 against his brother’s wishes," and also "whether or not the urban legend about Randy and a young Stephanie McMahon is true." Guaranteed to offer new insight on Poffo's brother "Macho Man" Randy Savage, The Genius Cast is also set to include the inaugural "Macho Man Clip Of The Week" and a "Poem/Limerick Of The Week."
The Genius Cast will be available via iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and all other podcast clients. The podcast can also be directly followed on social media via clicking over to @thegeniuscast on Facebook and Twitter.
