Long-time friendship to dissolve, stunning betrayal? - 4 directions for Odyssey Jones following WWE RAW appearance
May 1st, 2023 was a big day for WWE. This was Monday Night RAW, but perhaps more importantly, it was the second night of the 2023 Draft. As a result, the lives and careers of many WWE Superstars were changed forever.
One career that certainly seemed like it would be changing was that of Odyssey Jones. The big man from NXT was part of the supplemental draft and he was selected by Monday Night RAW. Many fans were eager to see him debut and were curious as to what he'd do on the main roster.
Unfortunately, those fans didn't get their wishes fulfilled instantly. Odyssey just never debuted. While he did occasional dark matches and live events, the big man went nowhere and did absolutely nothing. That changed on last night's episode of Monday Night RAW, however.
The big man debuted helping The New Day fight off The Final Testament. The debut was a shocker, as nobody saw it coming. Now, Odyssey is officially a member of the Monday Night RAW roster. Naturally, many are curious as to what he'll do next. This article will look at a handful of directions the big man could take.
Below are four directions for Odyssey Jones following his WWE RAW appearance.
#4. He could be the new powerhouse of The New Day
The New Day is a stable that formed nearly a decade ago in WWE. The three members who represent the group are Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E. Unfortunately, Big E suffered a serious neck injury and may never return to the ring.
Losing the powerhouse of the group has definitely hurt The New Day's stock in WWE. While they've since won the NXT Tag Team Titles, they certainly aren't a top act like they once were. In fact, they're frequently bullied by other groups with more members and imposing stars.
That might change following this week's RAW, however. As noted, Jones saved Kofi and Xavier from The Final Testament. This could mean that the big man will be introduced as the newest member of The New Day, finally giving them another powerhouse in E's absence.
#3. Odyssey Jones could form a tag team with Kofi Kingston
In a segment that aired after Odyssey Jones saved Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston from The Final Testament, Woods was formally introduced to the big man. His relation to the group then became clear.
Kofi Kingston revealed that while he was getting back in ring shape at the WWE Performance Center, he met and befriended Jones. This led to Kofi mentioning needing help against The Authors of Pain and Karrion Kross, which then led to Jones debuting on RAW.
Since Odyssey and Kofi have struck up a friendship, it could lead to the two forming a tag team moving forward. Xavier could end up primarily working singles matches as part of The New Day.
#2. He and Kofi could turn heel on Xavier Woods
While Kofi Kingston was ecstatic to see Odyssey Jones in WWE and helping The New Day out, Xavier Woods had a slightly different reaction. He was clearly perplexed by Jones' arrival and maybe even put off by his eagerness.
This reaction to Jones is a bit surprising, but it fits with The New Day's ongoing story with The Final Testament. The former NXT Champion has been trying to pollute Woods' mind and make him believe that Kofi Kingston and The New Day are no good for him.
In what could be a fun twist, Woods being apprehensive of Jones could end up with both Jones and Kingston turning heel on him. The New Day could be no more if Kofi and Odyssey beat down the former King of the Ring and decide that they're going to work as a tag team moving forward.
#1. Jones could swerve The New Day and join The Final Testament on WWE RAW
The Final Testament is one of the most dangerous factions in WWE. The stable is led by Karrion Kross, but it also features Akam, Rezar, Scarlett, and Paul Ellering. The Authors of Pain and Kross are the ones who primarily compete, although Scarlett can get physical at times.
The group is known for their mental games and Kross is always trying to manipulate people. This manipulation often fails in the immediate future following his ploys, but they prove to be pretty successful in the long run. Apart from all of his flaws, Karrion Kross has been right about a lot of WWE stars.
In what could be one of the best swerves on RAW, Odyssey Jones may be playing Kofi and Xavier. Instead of being aligned with The New Day, he could turn on them and reveal that he is actually part of The Final Testament. This would shock fans, Kingston, and Woods, while also strengthening the RAW stable by a considerable margin.
