WWE News: Lowest ratings in WWE SmackDown Live history despite Triple H's appearance
What's the story?
This week, SmackDown Live faced some tough competition from the President of the United States and saw a serious viewership decline. President Trump's 'State of The Union Address' was what dominated cable television for the time slot when it was on.
As a result, SmackDown Live recorded the lowest viewership number in history. It was a significant 14% drop compared to last week.
In case you didn't know...
SmackDown Live was not a very good show, this week. Except for Daniel Bryan, none of the Champions on the show actually had an in-ring segment during the course of the night, resulting in poor viewership.
The only notable talking point that emerged from the show was the Triple H-Becky Lynch confrontation. But the rest of the show lacked the firepower that would have build interest and excitement for the Elimination Chamber.
Daniel Bryan took on Jeff Hardy in the main event.
The heart of the matter
This week's episode of SmackDown Live could only draw 1.841 million viewers. This is, by far, the lowest number for the show ever since the brand moved to Tuesday nights.
Last week's episode of SmackDown Live had a much higher number at 2.137 million viewers, and one must say that the figures are alarming especially if you consider the move to FOX later in the year.
The previous low number for the brand came from this past Christmas edition of the show, which saw 1.904 million viewers tuning in.
SmackDown was at #10 in the 18-49 demographic on cable television.
What's next?
I suppose that the numbers will pick up next week, without President Trump's address. However, WWE will probably take notes of this drop and make the necessary changes to spruce up their current product. If not, the FOX deal could potentially be in peril soon.
Why are fewer people watching SmackDown Live? What do you guys think?
