Major announcement, Seth Rollins' open challenge? - 4 ways Joe Hendry could be involved at WWE SummerSlam 2024

WWE fans see a lot of talented stars on RAW, SmackDown, and even NXT each and every week. The locker room is loaded with big names who fans either love or love to hate.

One new face to World Wrestling Entertainment who is rapidly becoming one of the bigger names in all of pro wrestling is Joe Hendry. Joe is a Scottish wrestler currently signed with TNA Wrestling but has been appearing on NXT on a somewhat frequent basis as of late.

Hendry made it clear that he plans to be featured on NXT for the foreseeable future, but that may not be the end of it. The wrestler with a catchy theme song has teased potentially appearing on the main roster shows too, which could include an upcoming premium live event.

RAW and SmackDown are set to host SummerSlam in just a few weeks and there is a chance that the Scottish star could appear on the show in some fashion. This article will look at a number of things Joe could do on the card if he were to appear.

Below are four ways Joe Hendry could be involved at WWE SummerSlam 2024.

#4. Joe Hendry could make a major announcement regarding NXT vs. TNA

At one point in time, TNA Wrestling and WWE weren't on the best of terms. When the company was originally a Nashville-based promotion led by Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter, they attempted to become the #2 wrestling promotion in the world and would step on the bigger company's toes.

Undoubtedly, the Vince McMahon-led WWE did the same thing and as a result, tensions were usually high between the two sides. Fast forward to 2024, however, and both World Wrestling Entertainment and TNA Wrestling have a working relationship, as is evident by the likes of The Rascalz, Jordynne Grace, and Joe Hendry himself appearing on NXT.

At SummerSlam, Joe could appear in a promo or video package where he makes a major announcement. He could reveal that a Worlds Collide show with the theme of NXT vs. TNA is planned and announce the date. SummerSlam would be the perfect time and place to make such a big headline.

#3. A WWE star could say his name and he'll appear

WWE loves wacky segments. While they are less frequent in the Triple H-led era, the likes of Chelsea Green and R-Truth still feature in hilarious vignettes and segments backstage that leave fans in stitches.

One common theme for many years at major events was backstage sketches with various surprises. For example, WrestleMania saw sketches with The Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, or Ron Simmons, among others, interrupting or being involved in outrageous skits.

The company could hold a backstage segment at SummerSlam where somebody mentions Joe Hendry and he appears out of nowhere. This could then lead to a brief interaction that either points towards something in the future or is simply done for a comedic moment on the big show in Cleveland.

#2. Hendry could accept an open challenge by Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins is one of the top stars in WWE. He is a multi-time World Champion and WrestleMania headliner. Rollins took a break to heal up after WrestleMania but returned in time to compete at the recently concluded Money in the Bank PLE.

Despite The Visionary being one of the best WWE Superstars going, he isn't currently booked for SummerSlam. Some believe that he could end up being involved in the Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk match, which is heavily rumored, but nothing is confirmed as of now.

If he isn't, Rollins could hold an open challenge. From there, he could say Joe's name and the star could appear by accepting said challenge. Hendry likely wouldn't defeat The Visionary, but it would be an amazing spotlight for the TNA star.

#1. He could be featured in a post-credit scene

The final option is a less direct appearance than the others included on this list. There is a chance that Joe Hendry could close out the WWE premium live event by his face flashing and appearing in a post-credit scene.

A post-credit scene in media is when after the credits start to roll, a scene airs at the end or in the middle. This was most popularized by the uber-successful Marvel Cinematic Universe which has used it effectively for 16 years. For WWE, it has been used semi-often. One such example of this scene is when CM Punk appeared after the lower graphic signifying the end of Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 popped up in November.

There is already precedence of this happening with Joe Hendry in particular. His face popped up during the final seconds of NXT Heatwave, which hinted at his more regular role on the white and gold brand. Could the same happen at SummerSlam?
