Major championship changes hands in error, Bloodline mistake - 4 WWE botches you missed at SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam is now in the rear-view mirror but the effects of the show will be felt for several months to come. There are a number of new champions following the show and Roman Reigns made his longer overdue return to target the new Bloodline.
While the show is one of the best of the year, there were still a number of awkward botches throughout and the following article looks at just four of the biggest botches at WWE SummerSlam.
#4. Tonga Loa botches
Tonga Loa is getting himself quite the reputation for botches after the incident where he punched his own brother in the head. Last night at SummerSlam, he wasn't in a sanctioned match but he was forced to come out and help Solo Sikoa in his Bloodline Rules Match against Cody Rhodes.
Tonga only had to push Rhodes into the turnbuckle and somehow he managed to miss and took him to the side of the target. This has become a hot topic of conversation on social media since Loa has been part of several hilarious botches in his short WWE career.
#3. Sami Zayn drops Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker is the new Intercontinental Champion but his match against Sami Zayn wasn't without incident since Breakker also managed to botch mid-way through the bout.
Sami Zayn was lifting Breakker up for what appeared to be side slam before he lifted him over and actually managed to drop him. Luckily, Breakker was able to land in a way that didn't injure himself and went on to win the match and his first main roster championship.
#2. Gunther landing botch
Damian Priest has been unlucky over the past few months with the botches in his title matches, from being caught in the ropes to not kicking out of Seth Rollins' pin, Priest has got himself quite a reputation as champion.
It seemed that his WWE SummerSlam match went much smoother but after the South of Heaven Chokeslam, Priest was forced to roll Gunther comically towards the rope to allow Finn Balor to lift his leg up, which made it clear that he was aware of the next move. Most stars pull their opponents away from the ropes, so this was an interesting move from the former champion.
#1. LA Knight pin botch
One of the biggest botches at WWE SummerSlam came when LA Knight defeated Logan Paul for the United States Championship. Paul used brass knuckles behind the referee's back but it seems that Knight got his revenge when he was able to pin Paul despite his foot being under the rope.
Knight should have pulled him away from the ropes before making the pin, but instead, the referee failed to check and it seems that the title change will still stand.
