Major Roman Reigns change, Cody Rhodes' next rival? - 4 babyface and heel turns that are inevitable in WWE this summer

Pro wrestling, in general, is one of the most engaging art forms in the world. While WWE storylines are extremely complicated to create and produce, at the core of pro wrestling is good versus evil.

In wrestling, the "good guys" are called babyfaces, and the "bad guys" are known as heels. There can be people in between, shades of gray, and some with no clear alignment at all. But generally, performers fall into one of the abovementioned categories more often than not.

Changing from one alignment to the other can result in some of the most fascinating and compelling stories in the industry. World Wrestling Entertainment and Triple H have been clearly setting up several major turns to take place this summer.

This article will take a look at four turns that seem to be inevitable based on recent events. This includes three bad guys seeing the light and turning good, along with one heartbreaking betrayal that will turn a legend into a villain.

#4 Austin Theory's face turn has been teased

Austin Theory has long been one of WWE's most annoying superstars in recent years. Despite being incredibly talented, the former United States Champion has never seen a mirror he didn't like. He is self-absorbed and has made everybody know how highly he thinks of himself.

In recent weeks, Austin's role as a heel has slowly begun to change. He has either taken the bullet for Grayson Waller by choice or has been forced to do so by the Aussie. Not only that, but Waller has regularly disrespected A-Town's Finest, and DIY has made it clear that Waller isn't truly Austin's friend.

The former WWE Tag Team Champions splitting up seems inevitable. Once they do, Austin may align himself with Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of DIY. This will allow him to be solidified as a babyface since the other two are becoming more and more popular.

#3 Damian Priest has slowly been turning into a good guy

Damian Priest is the current World Heavyweight Champion. He's also a member of one of WWE's top factions, The Judgment Day. The Archer of Infamy is joined by Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Finn Balor, and Carlito, although the latter isn't an official member of the group quite yet. Unfortunately, there has been much tension in the stable.

While tension within The Judgment Day isn't anything new, it has amplified in recent weeks. Priest seems to be solidly in Rhea Ripley's corner. Not only that, but Damian shows respect to other babyfaces and attempts to stop his faction from interfering in his matches.

It seems as if he will either walk away from The Judgment Day or, more likely, be ejected from the group. Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, and even Carlito will likely kick Priest out of the stable sooner rather than later. This will allow The Terror Twins to become babyfaces in WWE moving forward.

#2 Roman Reigns will surely return to WWE as a babyface

Roman Reigns has been one of the most diabolical heels in WWE for years now. He turned into a villain in 2020 and has successfully dominated the company in the years since, including having an incredible run as world champion.

The Tribal Chief hasn't been seen in WWE since WrestleMania XL Sunday in April. While he was last a heel, that is going to change upon his return. That is clear because the fans keep chanting "We Want Roman" every chance they get.

The groundwork has been laid for Roman to return and stand up to the new Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa. The Tribal Chief will try to battle Solo, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. In fact, he might even try to reunite with Jimmy Uso, Paul Heyman, and even Jey Uso.

#1 Randy Orton will likely turn heel to feud with Cody Rhodes

Randy Orton is a veteran in WWE. He is a 14-time World Champion who has been a major player in the sports entertainment juggernaut for decades. In fact, he has been a television regular dating back to 2002 and has excelled as both a good guy and a bad guy.

The Viper has been a babyface for quite some time now, but he has been especially beloved since returning from injury late last year. The WWE Universe may love Orton, but a heel turn appears to be on the horizon.

Orton has been regularly eyeing Cody Rhodes' title. In fact, The Apex Predator has even promised to have Rhodes' back when people target him. That, of course, is likely going to result in a heel turn. Sooner or later, the veteran will strike and attempt to steal his friend's gold.
