Major star to challenge Cody Rhodes after threatening to quit WWE - 4 big announcements Nick Aldis can make on SmackDown

General Manager Nick Aldis has a lot on his plate regarding the landscape of WWE SmackDown, following King and Queen of the Ring. Issues from the premium live event, and even the night before, will need to be resolved on this week's show.

The SmackDown General Manager could take care of business with a few big announcements about Clash at the Castle. Aldis has a big night coming up and won't want to disappoint.

So let's get into it. Here are four possible things Nick Aldis can announce this Friday night on SmackDown.

#4. Randy Orton receives a rematch

This hinges on Randy Orton's injuries and whether he is cleared in time for SmackDown. But, as long as he is, The Viper will undoubtedly be on the hunt for a rematch against Gunther after his controversial loss in the King of the Ring final. Orton's shoulders were up during the final pinfall.

Triple H even addressed the botch and suggested a rematch, potentially with The Ring General putting his crown on the line. So, with that in mind, Nick Aldis can announce that Randy Orton will get another crack at Gunther at Clash at the Castle.

There may be some pushback from Adam Pearce on RAW, but that can be worked out with Triple H. After what we saw in Saudi Arabia, another match between Orton and Gunther would be a great move from WWE.

#3. Nick Aldis gives Piper Niven a title shot in her homeland

After her attack on Bayley on last week's SmackDown, Piper Niven looks set to challenge for the WWE Women's Championship. It just so happens that the next premium live event will take place in her home country of Scotland. A fellow Brit himself, Nick Aldis would likely be glad to give Piper the opportunity.

Even though Niven and Chelsea Green have been an annoying presence for the SmackDown General Manager, Bayley herself wants the match. Aldis can make it official on Friday, leading to a fascinating battle between two UK crowd favorites.

#2. Nick Aldis addresses the WWE Tag Team Title scene on SmackDown

The WWE Tag Team Championship belts are too beautiful to be sidelined. They haven't been defended in nearly a month, with the next challengers yet to be named. A few teams could vie for the spot, including The Street Profits, who defeated A-Town Down Under in six-man tag action last week.

Nick Aldis has a decision to make here. While he can award Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins a rematch, the SmackDown GM may decide to hold a number one contender's match. The Street Profits can face DIY, and possibly another team or two, with the winners facing Grayson Waller and Austin Theory in Glasgow.

#1. AJ Styles vs. Cody Rhodes II

AJ Styles had a backstage meeting with Nick Aldis on SmackDown last week, where he made his case for another shot at the WWE Championship after losing at Backlash. The Phenomenal One said he doesn't have much time left but the general manager didn't give him the match.

Aldis stated that it wouldn't be right professionally. But what if Styles calls for another meeting and threatens to quit WWE out of desperation? That may force his hand into booking a rematch at Clash at the Castle. Cody Rhodes likely wouldn't mind it at all, so Nick Aldis can make the match.

It would be an interesting story beat, with AJ Styles being ready to walk away if he doesn't get to face Rhodes again. Also, the UK fans would get to witness a classic like the WWE fans in France. Everybody wins in this scenario. Aldis just needs to make the match.
