Matt Hardy News: The 'Woken' One cleared for in-ring return
What's the story?
We have not seen former multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion 'Woken' Matt Hardy since last July, as Hardy revealed towards the end of the month that he was taking time off due to his back fusing with his pelvis. This sparked much talk that he would be retiring, however that does not seem the case at all with his latest revelation on Twitter.
In case you didn't know...
While it seemed like WWE had big plans for 'Woken' Matt Hardy following the success of The Ultimate Deletion on RAW last March, things seemed to cool down for The 'Woken' One when he and Bray Wyatt formed a tag-team pairing, becoming the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions.
The duo were not really involved in any angles during their reign nor after losing the titles to The B-Team in May, and Matt's departure from TV even left a major lack of creative direction for his former partner Bray - who also has yet to return to our screens since July last year, despite not being injured.
The heart of the matter
With it now being almost six months that Matt has been out of action, many fans have speculated that Hardy may be retired, especially after Hardy himself posting several retirement teaser tweets. However, Matt recently claimed on The Ross Report that he wasn't retired, although didn't specify exactly when we should expect to see him return to in-ring action.
However this past Sunday, Matt responded to a fan on Twitter who asked whether he was actually retired. He replied not only claiming he wasn't retired but also revealing that he had been given the green light to make his return, tweeting:
What's next?
With Matt Hardy apparently ready to return to action anytime now, we may see him make his long-awaited return to WWE sometime within the next few months, providing the company want to continue utilising him as a wrestler.
It may seem hopeful, but perhaps we could even see his 'Woken Wisdom' feature in the Royal Rumble this Sunday?
