Melina clears the air around her departure from Lucha Underground
Former WWE Diva Melina Perez, better known by her stage name Melina, has broken her silence on the talk going around about being replaced on Lucha Underground with Taya Valkyrie due to supposedly ‘being difficult to work with’.
The wrestler took to social networking site Twitter to shoot down the rumours and stated that she only tried to get into Lucha Underground in order to be closer to her partner John Morrison.
Melina also went on to claim that the Lucha top brass were reluctant to pair them together as that had already been done on WWE – reports dailywrestlingnews.
The 36-year-old posted the following statement on Twitter:
“I love wrestling, but I never thought I’d see this much crazy from people where they’d start rumors & such, long after I’ve stopped wrestling. During my career, All I wanted was to be around people that loved what I loved and make magic with them.
I’m not even in wrestling anymore and people still keep fabricating stories of this evil, villain of a woman. It’s awesome to think my onscreen character was that convincing, but in actuality… That’s just crazy!”
The highly talented wrestler had a memorable stint in WWE, and is the holder of: three WWE Tag Team Champions, two Intercontinental Championships, three WWE Women’s Championship titles and a two-time WWE Divas Champion.
Melina also holds the distinction for becoming the first woman in WWE history to become a multiple-time champion with both the Women's and Divas titles. The California native was praised by her peers and WWE alike with Bret Hart calling her one of the best wrestlers in the world, while WWE commended her for having perhaps the most impressive arsenal of offensive maneuvers in WWE history.
