We are back with another exciting edition of Money in the Bank Roundup where we discuss the biggest updates surrounding the Premium Live Event. The list also includes potential plans for major winners at the show, and the readers are advised to skip sections marked as the same should they wish to avoid the spoiler.
Here, we look at the latest Money in the Bank rumors and news that have dominated the WWE headlines over the last few hours. So without further ado, let's begin.
#1. WWE Hall of Famer slated for return before Money in the Bank
WWE is headed to Toronto, Canada, for Money in the Bank this year. Former women's champion Trish Stratus is slated to return for an in-venue hospitality appearance at Scotiabank Arena ahead of the Premium Live Event. World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest is also set to join Trish for the aforementioned program.
The Hall of Famer recently addressed a potential retirement on the cards and refused to acknowledge the word. She revealed that she and Lita proper to "stay ready" in case they are ever needed. Trish Stratus was involved in an intense feud with Becky Lynch last year which led to a memorable Steel Cage match. Considering Trish Stratus' presence at the venue, she could make a brief appearance on the show too.
#2. Damian Priest on why he agreed to a shocking bet before title match
Damian Priest is set to put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank. The two superstars also agreed to a bet before the match per which The Architect cannot challenge for the gold again if he fails to dethrone Priest, at least not until the championship changes hands.
However, losing the title would mean the Archer of Infamy would have to leave Judgment Day. Priest was recently asked why he agreed to such a bet during an interview with Indian Express. The champion stated that he is confident of his victory at the upcoming show, and knows he won't have to leave the heel faction:
"So, I'm confident and that's why I was able to, you know, make that gentlemen's agreement, where, you know, if I lose, fine, I leave The Judgment Day. But I don't think I'm gonna lose or else I, you know, I wouldn't have made that bet. It's pressure, you know. It's Seth Rollins. He's one of the greatest to ever do this and he's still going strong. And I feel like this is the perfect opportunity that if I'm gonna prove myself, if I'm gonna say that I'm the guy now to be the face of Monday Night RAW, I have to beat Seth Rollins. I have to be able to overcome that mountain because he is the guy that we look up to," he said.
Priest has openly stated that The Judgment Day needs him more than he needs the group, a statement that has not gone down well with the heel faction. This has led to several speculations surrounding a potential betrayal at Money in the Bank.
#3. Massive title change at Money in the Bank 2024 [Spoiler]
The only other title match scheduled for Money in the Bank will see Sami Zayn put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Bron Breakker. The latter has wreaked havoc on WWE RAW over the last few weeks and destroyed Zayn during their confrontation on the final episode of Monday night show before the upcoming show.
As per BetOnline, Breakker is now an odds-on favorite to beat Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship this weekend. This would see the former NXT Champion win his first title on the main roster. Zayn won the gold at WrestleMania after defeating Gunther and may lose his title to a vicious challenger when they meet on the upcoming PLE.
#4. WWE legend explains why former women's champion should win Women's MITB
Wrestling veteran Bully Ray recently revealed his favorite pick to win the Women's Money in the Bank this year and it is SmackDown star Chelsea Green. The Hall of Famer believes Green will have an entertaining run with the briefcase, and could potentially make the briefcase more prestigious. He was quoted as saying:
"1000% who I want to win is Chelsea Green. Who do you think will win? Lyra [Valkyria]. Chelsea with that briefcase is entertainment gold..it's just gold. But it's never going to happen. Because, as I said, as you backed up, Chelsea with that briefcase, she will make that briefcase mean more than anybody else. She will look at that briefcase as if it is more important than the Women’s World Championship." [H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling]
Green defeated Bianca Belair and Michin in a triple-threat qualifier to book her spot in the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match. She has not held a singles championship on the main roster, and winning the coveted briefcase could be the key to pushing her to the top of the roster with an entertaining gig.
#5. Betting odds reveal top favorites to win Men and Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Matches this year [Spoiler]
The betting odds have also revealed top favorites to win this year's MITB matches in the men's and women's divisions. As per the latest report, SmackDown star Tiffany Stratton is the leading pick to win the Women's MITB briefcase this year. The match will feature last year's Money in the Bank winner Iyo Sky, Naomi, Chelsea Green, Lyra Valykyria, and Zoey Stark, presenting a huge challenge in front of Stratton.
As for the men's MITB Ladder Match, former world champion Drew McIntyre is the odds-on favorite to walk away with the briefcase. The Scottish Warrior was the final WWE Superstar to book his spot in the match, and many believe CM Punk could return to cost him another shot at a title. However, McIntyre remains the top pick to win the MITB contract.
